ThePokemonseries has always been pretty good when it comes to providing players with things to do after completing the main story. Some games include additional plotlines and areas, though most ofthe franchise’s post-game contenthas traditionally centered around capturing powerful Legendary Pokemon.Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearlcontinue this tradition.

Groudon and Kyogre are the mascots forPokemon Ruby&Sapphireand together make up two-thirds of the all-powerful Weather Trio. They may not play any part in the narrative ofBrilliant Diamond&Shining Pearl, but both can be caught in one of the games' many post-game areas, Ramanas Park. This is undoubtedly great news for fans of thegen 3 Legendaries, but they’ll still need to put in quite a bit of work to get their hands on these two powerful Pokemon.

Where to Find Groudon & Kyogre in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

In order to find Groudon and Kyogre, players must firstbeat Cynthiato become Sinnoh’s newest Pokemon Champion. Once that’s been taken care of, they’ll then need tounlock the National Dexby registering all 150 Sinnoh Pokemon in their Pokedex. After doing so, Oak will mention that a new location known as Ramanas Park is now open and suggest that players check it out for themselves.

This special post-game area allows players to tradeMysterious Shardsfor special slates that can be used to encounter non-Sinnoh legendaries. Before they can catch the two weather Pokemon, however, players will first have to catch the three Legendary Titans, Latios, and Latias, and either the three Legendary Beasts (Brilliant Diamond) or the three Legendary Birds (Shining Pearl). Then, and only then will trades for the slates needed to encounter Groudon and Kyogre become available.

How to Catch Groudon in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

In order to catch Groudon, players will need to get their hands on a Tectonic Slate from the counter near the entrance to Ramanas Park. Like all of the other slates, this will cost them either three small Mysterious Shards or one large one. After that, they should enter the park, make their way east, and then look for a large body of water to their south. If they useSurfhere, they’ll find a cave in the center of the water, inside of which is the Tectonic Room.

As withother rooms at Ramanas Park, players will need to place their Tectonic Slate into the Enigmatic Pedestal to summon Groudon. It can be a little tricky to catch due to its move set, which includes one-hit KO attack Fissure, the powerful ground-type move Precipice Blades, and, perhaps most annoyingly, Rest. As such, both staying alive and keeping Groudon’s HP low can be a real Chore, thoughusing Charizardor another flying-type Pokemon can at least help with the former, as neither Fissure nor Precipice blades will affect them.

How to Catch Kyogre in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

In order to find Kyogre, players will need to pick themselves up an Oceanic Slate at the counter and should then head northeast once inside the park itself. They’ll soon come to a rectangular pool of water and will be able to use Surf to reach the far side of it, where they’ll find the Oceanic Room. For those having trouble finding it, it’s northeast of the Discovery Room where players earlier caught the three Legendary Titans.

Much like Groudon, Kyogre can be a little difficult to catch due to Aqua Ring restoring its health at the end of each turn. It remains active for the entire battle too, so players will either need to attack periodically to keep its HP in the red or use Status Effects likeSleepand Paralysis to prevent it from using Aqua Ring in the first place. The latter is definitely the faster strategy, though both can be effective providing players don’t run out of Pokemon or Pokeballs.
