With largergaming-themed events like E3 growing less prevalentin recent years, PlayStation’s State of Play shows have become a popular way of drumming up excitement for the year’s slate of PS5 games.The most recent PlayStation State of Play was held on February 23 and showcased a variety of indie titles and games for the then-newly released PlayStation VR 2 headset. The crown jewel ofFebruary’s PlayStation State of Playwas the upcomingSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, with developer Rocksteady showing off roughly 15 minutes of gameplay and story footage. So far, the only game confirmed to be shown at this latest State of Play isFinal Fantasy 16, with more than 20 minutes of new gameplay footage being promised.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installment ofthe long-runningFinal Fantasyseries, andFinal Fantasy 16promises to be one of the darkest and grittiest mainline entries to date. It recently went gold last week, about three months before it is set to launch as an initial PlayStation 5 exclusive on June 22.
