2021 is certainly shaping up to be a big year forOverwatchfans, and Blizzard has celebrated its arrival with a gorgeous piece of art centered on the popular hero Hanzo. The specialOverwatchimage shows Hanzo, bow in hand, gazing off into the distance and pondering what the new year will hold for him.

This is not the first time that theOverwatchteam has shared artwork when wishing its fans the best during a holiday. For Christmas day, Blizzard sharedsome themedOverwatchartworkwith players, showing the characters celebrating their respective holidays alongside one another. The same has been done with this art, which serves as both an impressive standalone piece and a clever teaser for the game’s next event.

While oneOverwatchfan recentlycreated a Hanzo skin conceptdepicting the character as a demon, Blizzard may be teasing that an official Hanzo skin is incoming. In the art piece, Hanzo can be seen standing outside the Hanamura castle as celebratory balloons float in the sky above. Right next to Hanzo, players can see an ox chowing down on some grass, with the beast standing out as the most prominent part of the image apart from the archer.

With 2021 being the Year of the Ox on the Lunar calendar, it can be assumed that this art piece if a teaser for the next Lunar New Year event inOverwatch. Bringing players some of the most uniqueOverwatchcosmetics in the past, such as Sombra’s facechanger skin, many players are likely wondering what this year’s version of the event has to offer. Both a return of the Capture the Flag game mode and now a Hanzo skin can be expected, as well as new unlocks for more of the game’s massive hero roster.

If the event is anything like its predecessors, players can expect it to arrive sometime in January. The last event beforeOverwatch 2’s “BlizzConline” appearance, The Year of the Ox seems like a great time to get back into Blizzard’s hero-shooter. Still, with many comments on the post reading “dead game” and “releaseOverwatch 2,” the more negative members of the community are likely to just wait for the sequel’s arrival as opposed to partaking inOverwatch’s new year festivities.

Regardless, Hanzo fans should be glad to see that the character is getting some love from theOverwatchteam, and hopefully the same attention is spent on giving Hanzo some more character development in the near future. While he looks quite different in this art piece than he does inhis realistic character portrait, the cartoony style is a great fit for both the universe and Hanzo himself.

Overwatchis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
