One of the charms for a game such asOverwatchis because of the overall ease of access players have, it is fairly easy for a player to hop in a play a few quick games if they are on a time crunch. However, all it can take is one game for a player to find themselves stuck in a proverbial tug-of-war with another team trading wins back-and-forth and, before they know it, it has been an hour. OneOverwatchplayer gave a small glimpse into this very reality by sharing the final score from one of their recent game sessions.

Reddit user Sweetpotato3000 shared an image of this high final score on the game’s official subreddit, making it very clear in the post’s title how much the long match wore on them. The final score of said match was 15-12, with Sweetpotato’s team ultimately coming out on top after the proverbial war of attrition. Other users shared their shock in the post’s comment section, saying they couldn’t imagine being stuck in such a long, back-and-forth match on the game’sNumbani map. However, some still inquired about the actual length of the match, prompting Sweetpotato to respond the replay time is around 46 minutes long and shared the match code for anyone interested in watching the full replay.

Sweetpotato and several users weren’t shy to share their theories as to why the match went long, either. A common idea in the comments was there may have beenplayers on the opposing team Smurfing, as Sweetpotato believed one low-level player was showing a game awareness above what their level would indicate.

At first glance, it may be possible to fool another casual player into thinking the time and score was pulled from a random Overwatch League match where, given the caliber of players involved, matches can last between 30 minutes and an hour. One of the longest matches in the league’s history occurred in its second year and saw the Vancouver Titans locked in a heated match with theSan Francisco Shockfor nearly three hours on the latter’s way to winning the 2019 Grand Finals.

That being said, most players outside the professional would likely argue a reason they enjoyOverwatchis because of the “pick up and play” design to it. Blizzard seemingly designed the game with this in mind, with the more casual-focused Quick Play option being front-and-center when players boot up the game. In most cases, it wouldn’t be surprising to see another player fit in at least one or two more shorter matches, even onbigger maps like Route 66, in the same amount of time Sweetpotato spent in their match.

Overwatchis currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
