Overwatch 2is full of interesting hero dynamics, and as the roster expands, the list only continues to grow. Ramattra’s uprising will surely lead to an unforgettable clash with his close friend Zenyatta,Junker Queenhas a long history with Junkrat and Roadhog, and a potential romance between Baptiste and Lifeweaver has gotten fans talking. Speaking of Lifeweaver, his close bond with fellow Vishkar member Symmetra could result in an interesting change for the Damage hero.

Lifeweaver and Symmetra were both part of the same academy when growing up, training from a young age to be Architechs that shape the world using Hardlight. While Symmetra stuck by the controversial Vishkar Corporation, which has a reputation for being too strict and orderly as it marches into different parts of the world, Lifeweaver snuck away from the academy to explore the world. With Lifeweaver now a playable hero and getting directly involved with the ongoing story,Overwatch 2fans could be in store for some meaningful interactions between the two Architechs.

Lifeweaver Could Give Symmetra the Push She Needs to Rethink Her Loyalty to Vishkar

Based on theOverwatch 2conversations featuring Lifeweaverand Symmetra, the two characters still have plenty of love for each other despite Lifeweaver leaving Symmetra behind. While she may have been disappointed in Lifeweaver initially, time heals all wounds, and his positivity makes it hard to argue that leaving Vishkar was the wrong idea. This closeness could be integral in steering Symmetra in the right direction.

WhileOverwatch 2multiplayer matchesare not canon, they do provide a good idea of how characters would behave when meeting each other. One particularly memorable dynamic is the conflict between Lucio and Symmetra, with the two butting hands before matches if they are on the same team. Lucio gained fame by pushing Vishkar out of his country and getting revenge for an idea they stole from his father, showing that the company absolutely has a dark side. This could be turned into a proper story moment inOverwatch 2’s PvE campaign, which can be taken further by Lifeweaver’s return.

After Lucio reveals his Vishkar story to Symmetra, she could have doubts about the company that gives her the Hardlight abilities that she wields so gracefully. Considering that she has essentially been indoctrinated to love Vishkar since she was a child, though, Lucio speaking ill of the organization would not be enough. However, a canon version of this conversation combined with an official reunion between Symmetra and Lifeweaver could serve as a wakeup call.

After having her faith shaken by Lucio, Lifeweaver could explain how there is beauty in nature and that Vishkar’s vision for the world should not be forced on people who do not want it. Beyond that, Symmetra can simply see how happy he is away from the corporation, wanting to achieve that same level of joy for herself. A heart-to-heart moment between the two characters could follow anOverwatch 2PvE missionwhere they battle some Omnics, and at the end of the cutscene, Symmetra can embark on a new journey.

The character development for Symmetra could go in one of two directions, both of which would undoubtedly be interesting. The first option is the simplest, and would see theOverwatch 2hero following in Lifeweaver’s footsteps and running away from Vishkar. This could see her hunted by the group like Lifeweaver was, which would make for an interestingOverwatchcomicor animated short. She could eventually join Overwatch, using what she learned of Hardlight to fight alongside characters like Winston. The other option would see Symmetra trying to make Vishkar a true source of good, rebuilding it from the inside and forcing out the worst members of the company. Slowly fixing Vishkar’s reputation could be another good way to take Symmetra’s story, and it would leave her as a neutral character that continues to exist in her own bubble as opposed to being part of a team.

Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
