The Seraphim are known to be incredibly powerful human weaponscreated by none other than the genius scientist Dr. Vegapunk. They were first teased in the story after the abolition of the Shichibukai system, which happened after the events of the whole cake island arc in the story.

Shortly after the Wano Country arc wrapped up, fans got to see what these weapons created by the Navy actually were.When the Navy attacked Amazon Lily, two of the Seraphims, S-Snake and S-Hawk, were deployed. Later on, as the story progressed towards Egghead Island, a lot more of the Seraphims was seen by the fans and, more importantly, with Dr. Vegapunk himself being there, fans finally received an explanation on how these powerful beings were created.
The Pacifista Project
The very basis of the Seraphims is the Pacifista project that was first teased before the timeskip of the story. The Pacifistas were introduced during the Sabaody Archipelago arc ofOne Piece.Thanks to Bartholomew Kuma, one of the former Warlords of the Sea who was also known as the lap dog of the Government, Vegapunk was able to work on the Pacifista project. He used Kuma’s body as the basis to create enhanced human weapons that resemble cyborgs but are actually much more tough.
On these cyborgs, Vegapunk was able to install the laser abilities of Admiral Kizaru, making them even more dangerous. Before the timeskip, one Pacifista proved to be powerful enough to take on the entire Straw Hat crew by itself. In fact, during the Marineford arc, the Pacifistas were shown to be powerful enough to take on even some of the New World pirates such as the Decalvan Brothers and Whitey Bay, among many others. During the timeskip, these Pacifistas were further worked upon by Dr. Vegapunk, as was evident from Sentomaru statement once he saw Luffy on Sabaody Archipelago 2 years later. In fact, it was also revealed that these Pacifistas will eventually evolve into something even more dangerous, so,in a way, the Seraphimswere first teased as soon as the post timeskip ofOne Piecebegan. Eventually, Dr. Vegapunk was able to create weapons similar to the Pacificas for, apparently, every member of the Shichibukai.

The Green Blood
While the Pacifistas create the physical base for the Seraphims, there is much more going on with them that is down to Lineage Factor. Together with Judge, Caesar and Queen,Dr. Vegapunk discovered Lineage Factorlong ago as a part of MADS. This Lineage Factor is key to everything in the One Piece world and, Yonji previously described it as the blueprint to life itself. This has been seen in full effect with the Seraphims. The Lunarian Lineage Factor has led to the Seraphim gaining incredible toughness along with the ability to manipulate fire, and incredible speed at the cost of the said toughness.
This is also the reason why the Seraphims have white hair, brown skin, and black wings. However, that’s not all. Dr. Vegapunk has also been able to carry out research on Devil Fruits, and in this case, he has made use of the Paramecia type of Devil Fruits. By extracting the Lineage Factor from the devil fruit users, Dr. Vegapunk was able to create what he calls Green Blood. This green blood courses through the bodies of all the Seraphims and is responsible for them having duplicate Devil Fruit powers of fruits that already exist in the One Piece world. For instance, S-snake has the power to use the Mero Mero no Mi, which she displayed in the previous chapter of One Piece, being able to petrify several members of the Cipher Pol. Similarly, S-shark has the ability of the Sui Sui no Mi, which he displayed on multiple occasions in the Egghead Island arc.
As such, these Seraphims are incredibly powerful. Not only do they have the toughness, that is down to the pacifistas, they also have Lunarian Lineage Factor and, on top of that, powerful Paramecia abilities that Dr. Vegapunk has recreated. According to Dr. Vegapunk, the Seraphims are the peak of what science can achieve and the strongest beings in the entire world, which is a frightening statement and just goes to show that science is, in fact, the pinnacle of power in the One Piece world.
So far, not everything has been seen from the Seraphims, however, Egghead Island arc continues and One Piece enters a new arc, which appears to be on the horizon at the moment, fans will surely find out more about what they’re capable of. It must also be noted that the Seraphim are merely children at the moment and as they grow, they will most likely become even stronger. Their abilities are already frightening, given that they can compete with the strongest of the Straw Hats, and even force Yonkos on the back foot.
