When it comes toThe Elder Scrollsseries, they may be revered, but many fans know that they are generally notorious for being littered with glitches, some minor, some hilarious, but occasionally some game-breaking. Eventhe Anniversary Edition ofSkyrimhas bugs, despite the game being more than a decade old at this point. But issues in the Bethesda franchise go way back, and one fan discovered that the fourth installment in the epic fantasy series,Oblivion, is in no way immune from some rather amusing, and immersion-breaking, mishaps.
In a recent post on theOblivionSubreddit, user FoehammersRvng uploaded a brief clip from the classic RPG, which shows the player engaging with an Imperial guard. However, it’s no ordinary exchange of words, as the guard in question is seen floating high in the air. The game zooms in a long way up to begin the conversation between the player and NPC. Aside from the guard hovering several hundred feet in the air, and their character model twitching slightly, the short conversation goes on as normal.

As can be imagined, the comments are awash with other users who are amused by the obviously unintentional glitch in the game. One person made a joke about how the world of Tamriel is bound to be open to attack if the guards are “stuck in the sky.” The clip ends before viewers get to see what became of the guard that hailsOblivion’s gorgeous Imperial City. Generally, it’s not much of a game-breaking bug as the NPC is not a quest character, but it is pretty funny to see, despite breaking the overall immersion slightly.
For a game that came out in 2006, it’s amusing to know that there are still some harmless bugs being noticed by players. It seems that manyfans are noticingOblivionglitches lately, which is something that players have sort of come to expect from Bethesda games, even older ones. At this stage, it’s pretty much a meme to post about entertaining issues spotted in any one of the epic titles from either this franchise orFallout.
Oblivionconsidered one of the bestElder Scrollsgames, according to Metacritic, which suggests that no matter how many bugs people spot, fans will continue to play the game unabated. Bethesda titles will always be popular among players, but perhaps one of the things that keeps the games in the limelight is all the issues that seem to come bundled with the studio’s more contemporary releases.
