The latestNintendoLive will have aZelda-themed musical concert and an amiibo fighting tournament among its planned festivities. Last October saw the return of Nintendo’s live gaming event following a three-year hiatus, with competitive tournaments for titles likeSplatoon 3andSuper Smash Bros Ultimate, a live concert featuringmusic fromAnimal Crossing, and even an exploration into the history ofPokemon.

Since then, Nintendo has enjoyed one of its most exciting years in recent memory. Last month,The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomfinally launched on the Nintendo Switch to near-universal acclaim, with fans flooding the internet with videos of its new building mechanics in action. There have also been rumors ofNintendo announcing its next mainline console, though the company itself has downplayed this. Outside the gaming world,The Super Mario Bros. Moviesurprised skeptical moviegoers and become one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time after hitting the big screen in April.

In light of all this success, Nintendo has just announced that Nintendo Live 2023 will be held in Seattle, Washington from September 1 to September 4. This marks the first time the annual event will take place outside of Japan. During the four-day showcase, players will get to sample hitNintendotitles likeZelda: Tears of the Kingdom,Pikmin 4, andKirby and the Forgotten Land. There will also be live music, with concert performances featuring tracks fromSuper MarioandThe Legend of Zelda. Lastly, fans will get to take photos with mascot versions of Mario and friends and relax in anAnimal Crossing-themed getaway.

As was the case with past Nintendo Live events, players will also get to compete inseveral Nintendo Switch-based tournaments. The first day will feature theSuper Smash Bros. Squad Strike tournament forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateplayers ages 13 and up, while theMario Kart 8 Deluxe2023 Championships will be held on day two. On September 3, players will get to train up their collectible amiibo fighters in theSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateamiibo+me Exhibition 2023. Day four will close out the festivities with theSplatoon 32023 Championships.

Nintendo Live 2023 looks to be an exciting showcase of the Big N’s dedicated fanbase, and one of the most intriguing events is theSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo tournament. Instead of controlling theirSuper Smash Bros.amiibo fightersdirectly, players will have their figures battle each other in CPU-controlled matches. It will be interesting to see how this plays out atNintendoLive 2023, which will also be host to a wide variety of demos, tournaments, and concert performances this September.
