With dozens of items for players to find inMinecraft, plenty of these tools have been in the game for over a decade. While many of the newer items are plenty versatile and functional for players of all kinds, some of the older items are definitely in need of a refresh.Like many things inMinecraft, an update is needed.
Most items that could use updates are still fully functional in their own right, but these same items could use an additional or improved function. These updates could even come in the form of simplifying the crafting recipes behind these items, making them far more accessible and ideally usable for most players. For these ten items, an update of any kind would be greatly appreciated.

10Brick
A New Projectile
At present, the brick serves a fine purpose as a crafting ingredient for brick blocks, plant pots, and more. And while the brick itself doesn’t exactly need an additional purpose, the general state of non-weapon projectiles is distinctly limited, with snowballs and eggs not even doing damage. The brick could see additional use as a low-damage, cheap projectile.
Beyond doing possibly a heart of damage, having the brick break weak blocks such as glass blocks and ice when thrown could lead to more interaction with the environment along with the PvP potential.

9Milk Bucket
A Limited And Bulky Cure
The bucket of milk is, in theory, a necessity for players trying to combatthe curse of elder guardians, potions thrown by witches, or any other unwanted status effect. In practice, however, the bucket of milk is far too annoying to see any actual use.
Since it’s a one-time use, and buckets of milk don’t stack in the inventory, it’s often easier to just deal with the potion effect than to try and negate it. If the bucket of milk stacked or changed to bottles of milk much like the stackable bottles of honey, this magical property of milk could actually be worth something.

8Spider Eye
An Overlooked Item
Mostly seen as a potion ingredient, the armadillo’s breeding food, or just inventory clutter, the spider eye is usually just discarded as trash by players. After the release of the frogs, however, a distinct opportunity was missed.
With their interactions with slimes, frogs are bred not with an insect part but instead with slime balls, even though the spider eye makes more sense. The spider eye could be far more valuable as the breeding food of both the armadillo and frog, especially with how valued slime is.

7Rotten Flesh
Potential For Undesired Food
Rotten flesh is relegated as wolf food, a last-choice for players starving, or most often thrown into lava pits. Except for the cleric villager trading rotten flesh, there is truly no reason to have the extremely common item. Many mods, however, have suggested another great use of the material; cooking it into leather.
With rotten flesh almost inedible and leather being anecessary item for enchantments, making the stretch of turning the zombie parts into something useful isn’t too hard to imagine.

6Brush
Scute Scooper
With the archeology brush also serving as the only way to obtain scute from armadillo, applying that same logic to baby turtles, the source of the original scute, makes the exact same sense.
Given how tedious the process to obtain turtle scute is, cutting down on the tedium slightly by only having to watch and protect the turtle eggs instead of waiting for the turtles to also then grow up would be much appreciated.

5Saddle
A Hidden Basic Tool
The saddle is the only way to obtain the best travel method in the early game, and despite this, it’s entirely possible that some players won’t find saddles until after defeating the Ender Dragon. The surprising rarity of a generally simple and often necessary item is unfortunate, and updating the saddle crafting recipe would be greatly appreciated.
While the villager update added a guaranteed saddle trade for fully upgraded leatherworkers, the general scarcity of villagers and the cost of some trades can make it a long and expensive process for a single saddle. Making the saddle readily available for any and all players wouldmake mobs like the cameland llama more useful in the early game, making travel and item movement far simpler.

4Spectral Arrow
The Odd Arrow Out
Mostly obtained incidentally when bartering with piglins, the spectral arrow is a somewhat strange item inMinecraft. A Java exclusive, it is essentially just a normal arrow, but when it hits a mob, the spectral arrow causes it to glow through blocks for ten seconds. While the arrow ismore useful in multiplayer scenarios, the potential of this magical and somewhat paranormal arrow is great.
Since the spectral arrow has such a ghostly name, and causes mobs to glow through walls, it would be a little more useful if glowing mobs could also be shot through walls, making the spectral arrow actually valuable as something to craft.

3Crossbow
The Worse And More Expensive Bow
The crossbow, while neat and offering exclusive advancements and enchantments, is a direct downgrade of the bow in every way. It is slower, it lacks theinfinity enchantment, and generally doesn’t do anything better than the bow, and is more costly to craft than it. A simple but wonderful update to help the crossbow would be to give it access to the infinity enchantment.
Even with the crossbow’s slow draw time, the convenience of the infinity enchantment would at least make the crossbow easier to use. While it may never surpass the bow in power, the ability to have infinite ammunition would be helpful.

2Tipped Arrows
Unnecessarily Complex Crafting
Tipped arrows are fairly strong upgrades to the usual arrow, but with how late-game the crafting recipe is, it’s entirely likely players won’t ever make them. Requiring the rare dragon’s breathturned into a lingering potion, the process of making the arrows is extremely inconvenient.
The update best suited for these powerful arrows already exists in the Bedrock Edition, as players there only have to use arrows in a cauldron filled with a given potion. This update already existing for tipped arrows on one version only begs the question as to why this feature isn’t consistent yet, since it greatly adds to the usefulness of the normally rare tipped arrow.

1Bundle
The Problem With Inventory Space
Introduced briefly in snapshots, the bundle was supposedly an item meant to bridge a gap between the lack of inventory space in the early game and the usefulness of shulker boxes in the end game. While the bundle currently sits in limbo, not normally available in the game, the idea of the bundle only offering an extra stack of inventory space is far too cheap given how many items wind up in the player’s inventory.
Ideally, the bundle should be updated to hold between three stacks of items and potentially up to a full inventory bar. While that may seem far too overpowered for an item made of only rabbit hide and string, it’s also important to remember that the shulker box is a portable chest, holding 27 stacks.
