Before a potion has any significant effects it must first become an Awkward Potion, and then once they’ve been turned into a regular potion, splashing and lingering effects can be added to it. Potion Types
There are three major potion types: Awkward Potions, Splash Potions, and Lingering Potions.
Awkward Potion
In order to make any potion at all inMinecraft, the player must first create an Awkward Potion. It has no effect at all since it is a base potion, but it is a necessary step in order to be able to successfully brew other potions.
To make an Awkward Potion, the player needs to obtain a Glass Bottle.
