Even though the world is two weeks into 2021, many are still looking back on 2020 and the many high quality game releases that launched during the year. This includes review aggregate siteMetcacritic, which has released lists detailing the top-rated games of 2020 for each platform. This even accounts for games released fornext-generation consoles like the PlayStation 5, even though the PS5 has considerably less new games available to it compared to the older consoles.
According toMetacritic, the top-rated PS5 game of 2020 is one of the console’s only true exclusives, theDemon’s Soulsremake. Propped up as one of the PlayStation 5’s premiere launch titles, theDemon’s Soulsremake earned an impressive 92 average rating from critics, making it the only PS5 game to do so to date. While its status as a “remake” may hurt its value in the eyes of some, theDemon’s Soulsremake has been praised for modernizing a classic, making important quality of life changes and vastly improving the graphics.

2021 is still young, and there haven’t been any major PlayStation 5 releases just yet. However, that will change in the months ahead, withReturnallaunching in March, and plenty of other PS5 games planned to release throughout the new year.
