Marvel Snap’s January 10 update just dropped. It adds new features, patches some annoying bugs, and buffs/debuffs nine cards.Marvel Snaphas been a gaming sensation since it launched in mid-October of 2022. Developer Second Dinner has been steadily providing updates to every aspect of the game since day one.
Marvel Snapquickly gained popularity by hooking players in with its fast-paced card-based gameplay. Rounds last no more than a few minutes, which is great for players looking to squeeze in a few matches in their spare time.Rewards are potentially bountifulas the Snap mechanic lets players choose to up the stakes of a match by putting more of the “cube” in-game currency on the line. Getting to play beautifully illustrated cards is a nice bonus, too, and each card’s power feels tailored to a character’s canonical power set.

In fact, as a part of the update, Second Dinner has finally included a feature fans of proper artistic attribution have been demanding: artist credits. Artist credits can be found by selecting a card in the Collection tab, thentapping the variant bannerabove it that describes the variant type. The variant banner will enlarge to make room for the illustrator’s name on the left and the color artist on the right.
Six cards have been debuffed with another three receiving buffs in the hope that the newly empowered cards get played more often. Notable debuffs include Aero, whose power has been reduced from eight to seven after she had been buffed maybe a little too much in a previous update, according to Second Dinner. They also noticed that Galactus decks were winning way too many cubes for their liking, so they knocked his power down from three to two.Leader can be a frustrating cardto battle against, so his power has been reduced from four to three. Other debuffs include Nova, Drax, and Groot.
Three cards were buffed in the update. Hazmat’s ability to afflict all other cards with -1 Power sounds deadly, but Second Dinner’s numbers showed she had a low win rate. Hazmat’s power has been buffed from one to two. The developers say Black Cat “sees virtually no play” so they’ve buffed her power up to seven toentice discard deck players. Nakia wasn’t in many winning decks, so her power was buffed from one to two.
Some fans might be disappointed to learn that the update doesn’t fixissues with Collector’s Reserve rewards. Other updates include ensuring that the Warrior Falls location will appear less often and that the Fast Upgrade section of the shop appears at all because sometimes it didn’t. One of the most exciting updates players will likely love is that the game will fast-forward to the end of ridiculously long trigger animation loops that happen when a player pairs a Wong with cards like Blue Marvel, Scorpion, Gambit, or Ironheart. Getting hit with one is demoralizing enough. At least now it’ll end quickly.
