A longtimeSpider-Manfan gives the officialMarvel’s Spider-Man 2cover art a makeover inspired by Neversoft’s classic PS1 game. The official cover art forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2was revealed alongside the game’s release date at Summer Game Fest 2023 this month.
Following the events ofMarvel’s Spider-Man RemasteredandSpider-Man: Miles Morales,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2will feature both Peter Parker and Miles as playable protagonists in the main story. The two heroes will work together to face dangerous villains, including Kraven the Hunter and Lizard. Moreover, Peter will have his fan-favoriteSymbiote suit inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, making him more aggressive in combat when compared to Miles. During the Summer Game Fest 2023 showcase, Geoff Keighley and Insomniac Games' Bryan Inithar revealed the October 20 release date for the upcoming title alongside the official cover art.

Spider-Manfan Taneto90 editedthe official Marvel’sSpider-Man 2coverto pay homage to Neversoft’sSpider-Mangame from the PS1. The newly edited cover includes font from the classic Neversoft-developedSpider-Mangame and a custom logo made by Taneto90. Additionally, the character models for Peter Parker and Miles Morales were edited to resemble polygonal models from the original PlayStation game. The new cover art was also edited into a 4:3 aspect ratio to mimic cover art featured inside the sleeve of PS1 video game cases.
Neversoft’sSpider-Mangame was released in 2000 for the PS1, Nintendo 64, and Game Boy Color. One year later, the game would receive SEGA Dreamcast and Microsoft Windows ports, and overall reception for the title was positive at the time. Nearly 23 years after the initial release of Neversoft’s game, PlayStation fans will have the opportunity to play a newSpider-Mangame once more whenMarvel’s Spider-Man 2launches.
Taneto90’s rendition of theMarvel’s Spider-Man 2cover is an endearing tribute to Neversoft’s game and classic PlayStation titles. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2will expand New York City, allowing players to explore one of the largest worlds ever developed for aSpider-Mangame. Players will also have various suits to collect and wear while exploring New York City and battling against enemies. Currently, it’s unknown whetherMarvel’s Spider-Man 2will have costumes inspired by classicSpider-Mangames, but Peter and Miles will be able to don suits inspired by variousSpider-Mancomics.
