How to Do a Throw-Away in Madden 23
While in the passing pocket,drift back andpress the right stick (R3) to throw the ball away. Use the left stick to aim for one of the out-of-bounds areas. To do the same on PC, press X on the keyboard before passing the ball.Do not throw the ball away while standing still in the passing pocket. Otherwise, the quarterback gets penalized.
Unlike a pass, a throw-away doesn’t have a receiver. In other words, the passer tosses the ball out of bounds. This is often done to avoid losing the ball or facing fumbles or turnovers.
When to Throw the Ball Away

To pump fake,double-tap the receiver’s button. This allows the quarterback to fool the opponents with a fake passing gesture, creating a gap in the defense line.
For a quarterback give-up, hold the LT button and press the right joystick (R3) simultaneously. With this move, the quarterback throws himself to the ground and saves the ball without throwing it away.
