It’s a known fact by now that Turn 10, the development studio working on theGran TurismocompetitorForza Motorsport, has got a new mainline entry to the franchise in production. Aside from a concept-level announcement and a tentative in-engine trailer that got shown off in 2020, however, precious little is known about it.

The latest leaks aboutForza Motorsportcoming from Jez Corden himself do suggest that there’s lots going on with the game in the background, even though both Turn 10 and Microsoft have been quiet on that front. In his recent podcast, Corden had a few tidbits of information to share about the upcoming version ofMotorsport, and he claims things are looking up.

While players could apply forclosed beta testing ofForza Motorsport 8 almost exactly a year ago, virtually nothing else was known about the testing period. According to Corden, though, the testing has been going on ever since, and a number of influencers have had the chance to spend some time with the game in the meantime. He went on to say that he believes the game is shaping up rather well, and that it could very well end up getting a 2023 release date.

The release date presumption, in particular, was shared in the context of theupcoming Xbox/Bethesda showcasethat’s supposed to be held in the summer. Since not much has been shared aboutMotorsportsince its initial announcement, Corden expects that it’s a safe bet that the game will be prominently featured for the purposes of the showcase, with gameplay presumably getting shown off at last.

AsForza Motorsport 7got delisted last year, players yearning for a more competitive racing experience from theForzafranchise currently have no real options to choose from.Forza Horizon 5, though critically acclaimed and enjoyed by the community, doesn’t offer any real-world racetracks or properly balanced racing vehicles, meaning that it’s hardly a replacement forMotorsportproper, which is something that both Microsoft and Turn 10 are sure to be aware of.

With that in mind, it’s not hard to see why Corden would believe thatMotorsportis due for a showcase this summer.Forza Motorsportwill take lessons from its predecessorsto try and deliver the best competitive multiplayer the franchise has had so far, which means the community has got particularly high expectations this time around. If Corden’s claims are correct, then these features should be prominently shown off during the summer, but it’s worth keeping a pinch of salt at hand, just in case.

Forza Motorsportis currently in active development for PC and Xbox Series consoles.
