A leaked image shows some interesting body modifications on Eli Vance of theHalf-Lifeseries, revealing the true extent of his injuries. While there is less andless chance ofHalf-Life 3ever happening, there are still some fantastic entries in the iconic FPS franchise. Between the first game back in 1998 and the VR titleAlyxwhich came out just a couple of years ago, many have gotten to know the soft-spoken scientist-cum-activist, but it’s possible many did not know this newly posted detail about him.In fact, recently, there have been a couple of interesting discoveries about the games, such as a leaked image showingHalf-Life 2’s gravity gun in its early form. The weapon itself is one of the most recognizable and unique guns in the FPS genre, with this early draft coming from leaker Richter Overtime. It’s interesting to see that after all these years, there are a number of assets that the community at large won’t have seen before, and this one of Eli is just one more example.RELATED:Valve Shows Half-Life 2 Running on a Steam Deck PrototypePretty much everyone who plays one of theHalf-Lifegames will know about Eli Vance’s prosthetic leg, which he got after losing his limb after escaping Black Mesa in the first entry and beforeHalf-Life 2. However, many may not know that he also has some augmentations on his body. A tweet posted by the aforementioned Richter Overtime shows the character model for the physicist without his trademark scientist clothes on, clearly showing synthetics across his right arm, which goes over his right shoulder and down to his abdomen. There are also a couple of additional synthetics on his left and right arms, just below the elbow.
For those who are less familiar with the games, Eli is the father toHalf-Life 2’s Alyx Vance, herself beingone of Valve’s most iconic characters. She’s a resistance fighter who assists the player throughout the sequel’s campaign. Eli has known Gordon since the first game, helping him to escape the immediate aftermath of the “resonance cascade” catastrophe that set events into motion.
With the first entry considered aninnovative game in the first-person shooter genreand the 2004 follow-up going down as one of the greatest FPS releases of all time, it is a shame a third installment is unlikely to happen, especially as the main story is technically not finished. However, it is intriguing to see that, after all this time, there are still new things being unearthed about Valve’s celebrated series.
