Jennifer Lawrence shared whether she might be open to reprising the role of the iconic Katniss Everdeen in futureThe Hunger Gamesmovies.

Lawrence starred as Katnissand characterized the “girl on fire” throughout the franchise’s four movies, includingThe Hunger Games(2012),Catching Fire(2013),Mockingjay – Part 1(2014), andMockingjay – Part 2(2015). Her portrayal of the character inThe Hunger Gamesfilms propelled Lawrence’s career to new heights, establishing her as a prominent A-list actress.

During an interview withVariety,Lawrence expressed her willingness to reprise her role intheHunger Gamesfranchise. The acclaimed Oscar winner disclosed that she would be wholeheartedly open to returning to the world of Panem if given the opportunity. While promoting her new R-rated coming-of-age comedy,No Hard Feelings, Lawrence enthusiastically declared, “Oh, my God – totally!” She further emphasized her excitement at the possibility saying, “If Katniss could ever come back into my life, 100 percent.” As she glanced away from the camera, Lawrence added, “My producing partner just clutched her heart,” indicating that her producer, sitting beside her, was taken aback by this revelation.

Lawrence’s remarks come amidst theresurgence of interest in theHunger Gamesfranchise, with the release of a prequel film titledThe Ballad of Songbirds and Snakesscheduled for later this year. The prequel –set six and a half decades before the main series– traces young Coriolanus Snow’s journey as he rises to become the President of Panem after his family’s downfall. Tom Blyth is portraying Coriolanus, taking over the role previously played by Donald Sutherland in the original films.

That whole genre didn’t exist yet. Nor did we know that genre of film incorporates such a huge and truthful and beautiful performance from Jen.” Lawrence cracked, “I can’t believe you could read when you were 10.”
