Industries of Titanis one of the scarce city-building sim games that successfully bend a few genre rules. As a result, some of the game’s gameplay mechanics remain fresh, while others, although familiar, have managed to strike the right chord.

Set on one of Saturn’s moons - Titan, the player is tasked with bringing the abandoned mineral-rich celestial body back to its economic best while keeping the rebel threats at bay. It may sound like a regularRTS strategy game, but it is built on a different blueprint altogether. No matter how good the game’s tutorial guides are at the beginning, there are still a few hidden tricks left for the players to explore.

Seek Max Council Help Before Starting A Map

Although the game has its way of playing out its strategy moments, it does allow players to choose from a list of beginning optionsduring each map start. The choices include the number of workers, humans, beginning credits, and stockpile options - all in exchange for “council influence,” of course.

The best option would be to have as many workers and humans as possible compared to the other available options. Workers can get stranded with work, and humans, in the beginning, can help obtain credits right from the start. It would be wise to use up the available council influence in exchange for the maximum Humans and Workers possible. This also helps speed up the survey and salvage process.

Combine Before Upgrading Factories.

The option to combine unlocks when buildings of similar type and upgrade level are placed on adjacent grids next to each other. It does not come for free but has a significant upside, especially when dealing with factories.

Factories play a crucial role in storage, power generation, and the most important of them all - ore processing. However, setting up the entire blueprint for Isotopes or minerals processing takes up a big chunk of space and needs to be more apparent when too many factories deal with too many things. Therefore, it would be a safe bet to combine two factories and get the space of two in one single factory. Combining space would not only give ample build room but also saves time in micromanagement.

A disclaimer:It would be wise to keep track of mission objectives. Particular objectives in specific maps would warrant building N number of buildings of a similar type. Combining facilities in such scenarios would decrease the number of available setups on the mission scale (two hospitals become one number when combined).

Upgrade Command Centers Before Expanding

Command Centers in the military tab aren’t the center of attraction when building the city, but they are that annoying itch one needs to take care of occasionally. Command Centers help expand the city’s borders, open up real estate for purchase, provide additional building space, and are vital for exploring the terrain for resources.

However, these centers can be a pain in the posterior unless they are used efficiently. Upgrading the command centers closer to the city first would also expandthe real estate. With every upgrade to the command center, a few more grid lines are added to the council’s landholdings. Once the command centers are upgraded to the maximum, it gives an idea as to which direction to expand next when compared to blind cluster setups of Command Centers.

Burrowing Is Overrated

During rebel attacks, the game’s tutorials prioritize burrowing as its primary defense strategy to avoid damage to significant city buildings, including the city hall. However, it also adds that the burrowing costs quite a fortune every time, and the city should be in an excellent economic condition to benefit from the option.

However, it is much easier to set up defense turrets and defense ships around the city, especially within reach of essential sites like factories, storage, mines, and power generators. The Rebel ships often prioritize these locations, and while they are having fun bringing down these buildings, the city’s defense would be capable enough to quickly bring down the enemy aircraft. Furthermore, a quick repair to the damages after that would be more financially viable than enduring the cost of burrowing along with a destroyed turret or two.

Hunt For Ore Mines

It’s very rare to findOre Minesat the start location on maps, but they are the most consistent source of minerals and isotopes in the game. Every map has one, but it takes broader exploration with command centers and airships, but the latter approach would be more feasible.

Having as manymines connected to the oresand logistics connecting them to the central city is one way to get the city’s stockpile filled up to the brim. This would certainly be the city’s heartline, and it would be safe to have a few defense turrets up and running. Finding any more minerals or isotopes through scavenging would only be an added bonus to this.

Logistics Are Underrated

Unlike other city-building games,Industries of Titandoes not use transportation as a means of baseline connectivity but does directly impact productivity. The maps in the game are widespread, and most have resources and mines scattered throughout unchartered territories. If the game does bring a shining light to the gamer, they could find the mother load of minerals and isotopes somewhere in the farthest reach of the map.

Although the “converted mindless humanoids” can walk the distance to and fro, connecting such lengths withroads and transport hubsmake a massive difference in the turnaround times. Consider using them more like highways than city roads; they are the best source for connecting different parts of the cities efficiently.

Segregate Sectors

One of the golden rules of city-building games is to segregate thehousing sectorsfrom other industrial sectors, and the base rule applies to theIndustries of Titan.

Combining sectors does not harm the housing sector; it does leave a dark footprint on the pollution scale. This would invariably reduce the planet’s human life span and decrease the efficiency rate in monetization. Unlocking and setting up industrial fans and air purifiers can help reduce pollution, but it is wiser to build a city with a good clear plan in mind.

Healthy Residents

Laying out the Residential Areas with Parks and Hospitals is something the tutorial only covers a little or to no extent at all. However, the reach of a fully upgraded hospital and the beautiful parksincrease the lifespan of the humans(not to be confused with workers), and with an office close by, the income will be huge!

Couple the hospital and parks with air purifiers, the people will give back more than they take. Their health span can be tracked in the employee drop-down in the top right corner. The more they are in the green mark of the bar meter, the more they will be efficient with their monetizations.
