While Nintendo fans don’t have a new console to look forward to this holiday season like Xbox and PlayStation fans do, that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to look forward to. Switch players are anticipating the sequel to 2014’sHyrule Warriors,Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, on November 20. And in an effort to fan the flames of excitement for its fans, Nintendo released anew trailer for the title during its October Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase.

Following the trailer during the Direct, Nintendo surprisedHyrule Warriorswith a special treat: a special demo forAge of Calamity. Thisdemo covers the entirety ofHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity’s first chapter, and will allow players to carry over their progress into the full game when it release on November 20. However, this demo may have done Nintendo more harm than good, as Switch players believe that they may have been able to datamine the list of playable characters.

While the explicit names of the characters weren’t found within the data files, there were, however, a series of icons that seem to identify 18 playable characters inAge of Calamity. Unlike the originalHyrule Warriors,Age of Calamityseems to feature a roster entirely of characters that were inBreath of the Wild. This makes sense, as it was previously announced thatAge of Calamitywill serve as a prequel to the events ofBreath of the Wild. Below readers will find a list of the characters included from the rumored datamine:

POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING

This list of characters makes sense if it turns out to be true. During the lead up toAge of Calamity’s release, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have shown off many screenshots of variousBreath of the Wildcharacters that make an appearance in the game. And with certain characters likeHestu and his Korok buddieshaving been previously revealed in an earlier trailer, it doesn’t seem like a far stretch to assume that he might be a playable character and that this is list could be legitimate.

While its currently unknown if this is, in fact, the actual playable list of characters forHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, players do know of a few playable entities. During the Nintendo Direct trailer, players were pleasantly surprised to see that they wouldbe able to play as The Divine Beasts. The Divine Beasts played an incredibly important role inBreath of the Wildas the game’s more long form dungeons and eventual weapons that could be used against Calamity Ganon. This time around, though, players will have a more active role by wielding the Beasts to defeat scores upon scores of enemies.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamityreleases on Jun 09, 2025, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
