Ekskalibur is an Undead-Type Unique Monster inChained Echoes, carrying the legendary sword Excalibur on its shell. However, the most extraordinary thing about this monster is that it’s invisible, which makes it one of the more interesting bosses in the game.

Players must follow a quick but slightly strange ritual in order to summon Ekskalibur and fight it for a chance of winning the replica of Excalibur. If that sounds confusing, players can use this practical guide to finish the side quest quickly.
How to Find Ekskalibur in Chained Echoes
In order to find Ekskalibur inChained Echoes, players will need to go to the central area of Fiorwoods, where there’s a gap on the map. Once there, they should run around the tree grove three times to summon Ekskalibur. It doesn’t matter whether they run clockwise or counterclockwise. At the end of the third round, Ekskalibur appears north of the trees.
Ekskalibur’s hideout is located to the north of Camp, where a Gazer roams near trees. For those unaware, a Gazer is a bluish, one-eyed monster that chases intruders. Players don’t have to fight the Gazer before summoning the Unique Monster, but it’s a good idea to put it down as soon as possible, as it interrupts the ritual.

How to Defeat Ekskalibur in Chained Echoes
As an Undead-Type, Ekskalibur is weak against Water-Type attacks. To beat it, players should focus on the Water Coat buff and use Silph’s Fan to up its Water vulnerability. When Ekskalibur initiates Physical-Resist, exploit Lenne’s Water Thrust or combine her Fire Thrust with Glenn’s Oil Slash.
When its Physical-Resist is on, Ekskalibur becomes invincible to physical strikes, whether close or long-range. With this in mind, players shouldn’t waste resources on such moves. Instead, they should put pressure on Ekskalibur with magic-based and Water-Type attacks, such as Lenne’s Water Jump.
Despite its Unique Monster status, Ekskalibur is an easy optional boss. Magic-based attacks arethe best abilitiesto counter its defense, and a few armor breaks are enough to weaken it against most elements. If the Ekskalibur boss fight does seem overly challenging though, players shouldlearn how to use SP, level up, and try again with upgraded weapons.
What Is the Prize for Finding and Killing Ekskalibur?
Guaranteed rewards are Skill Points and XP, but Ekskalibur may also drop a rare item called the Excalibur Replica. Sadly, there’s no Grimoire Shard to collect after the boss fight, but killing this Unique Monster counts toward the Chain Reward progress, which returns lucrative loot in the long run.
