There’s more loot than ever inDestiny 2and Bungie is showing no signs of slowing down the injection of items into the game. Alongside many gripes with the inventory system, players desire a more streamlined way of managing their inventories.
Hassling with a clunky inventory is one of the things that takes its toll over time.Improvements to load timeswill surely alleviate some of the frustration and sunsetting will free up some space in player arsenals, but the fans still crave a more seamless experience when it comes to loot management. This is the reason why services likeDestiny Item Managerare a staple of so many players’Destiny 2routines.
Armor Search in Collections
Firstly, there needs to be a search function inside Collections. Sincethe addition of Armor 2.0 with Shadowkeep, the Collections system expanded to include armor and weapon mods as well, and it isn’t exactly user friendly to flip through pages of icons to check whether a certain item is unlocked or not. Similarly, users may not remember which season or activity a shader came from, so being able to do a simple search for it would be much more convenient.

The Vault is another bottleneck in loot management. It takes some time for console users' Vault and inventory pages to load, and switching between the two slows things down. Not to mention, the game automatically takes users to the first page of their Vault when switching back to it from the inventory screen.
Although Bungie has increased Vault space in the past, the game has grown immensely since then, and not being able to reacquire randomly rolled gear from Collections is causing many hardcore and completionist players' storage space to clog up. The more dedicated fans simply want more space to store their gear.
Regardless of player type, one feature that would benefit everyone is the separation of “equip” and “store” keys while the Vault is open. Currently, players have to exit the Vault to be able to switch their equipped gun to store it. Having the ability to swap equipped items while inside the Vault (or the ability to transfer items directly from the equipped slot) would make organizing seamless.
Postmaster Improvements
Lastly, the Postmaster is still quite rudimentary. 2 years ago,the ability to delete items inside the mailboxwas implemented, but the Postmaster system needs more utility asDestiny 2heads into year 4. Despite the risk, many users still keep items stored in their Postmaster because it is a hassle to make up space for them and/or transfer them to the Vault.
One major improvementDestiny 2needs is a notification that the Postmaster is full while in orbit (or while exploring), not just when they arrive at the Tower. Moreover, there need to be “dismantle all”, “take all,” and “transfer all to Vault” buttons inside the Postmaster view. This feature would stop many players from using the Postmaster as a secondary storage unit.
Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
