HBO’sHouse of the Dragonis set to release later this year and as it gets closer to show time, several members of the cast have been sharing little bits and pieces about what it was like to shoot the show. One detail thatHouse of the Dragonstar Ryan Corr shared was that he was quite impressed with the size of the set pieces.

For the uninitiated,House of the Dragonis a prequel series for theuber-popularGame of Throneson HBO. This particular series will more closely examine the period of time in Westeros when House Targaryen held sway over the kingdom. The ten-episode first season of the series is based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 bookFire & Blood. The events of the first season will take place about 200 years beforeGame of Throneskicked off.

It should come as no surprise that thesets forHouse of Dragonare plenty impressive considering how expansive and detailed they were. Still, Australian actor Corr couldn’t help but be blow away by the size and scope of the sets he was working on. Speaking withIf, Corr compared the working environment to a full-scale Shakespeare play, but one that had actual jousting tournaments going on alongside full-scale castles that were equipped with fire caldrons on their rooves. “The sheer size of it was something I was amazed by,” the actor told the publication.

While Corr has a relatively well filled out resume as an actor, he’s mostly stuck to his native Australia, and the projects he’s worked on have a mostly smaller scale. Knowing that, it makes some sense that he would be the one on theHouse of the Dragoncastwho would be most impressed by the size and scale of the HBO show’s sets. Other stars like Matt Ryan and Olivia Cooke are likely a little more used to working on bigger projects.

With the way thatGame of Thronesendedand the fanbase that was so devoted to the HBO series,House of the Dragonundoubtedly has some rather big shoes to fill. It seems apparent that Corr is well aware that the show is trying to make sure that the size and scope of the prequel matches the show it’s spun off from. While fans are anxiously waiting to see for themselves, an official release date has not yet been announced.

House of the Dragonwill release in 2022.
