Summary

APokemonfan artist pondered what would happen if the Grass-type Pokemon Paras and Chikorita evolved together, and revealed the horrifying results on social media for other trainers to see. For their work, thePokemonartist received compliments on social media for their depiction of such a macabre merger of the two Pokemon.

Known respectively as the Mushroom and Leaf Pokemon, Paras and Chikorita made their debut in the Kanto and Johto regions. Though Chikorita is a pure Grass-type Pokemon throughout its evolution, Paras and its evolution Parasect are Bug and Grass dual-types. While Chikorita and its evolutions have a charming aesthetic in the eyes ofPokemontrainers, they are amongthe weakest starters in thePokemonseriesas a result of their weaknesses and lack of move diversity. Despite that, both Paras and Parasect are in a worse state thanks to their quadruple weaknesses to Fire and Flying attacks. While Paras and Chikorita are not threatening on their own, onePokemonfan sought to combine them with a horrific twist.

Inspired by otherdepictions ofPokemonfusion fan art, aPokemonfan named PoliMarley42_Art shared their vision on the r/Pokemon subreddit of what would happen if Chikorita and Paras evolved together. Starting with Chikorita and Paras, the latter was shown sitting on the leaf of the former, as both Pokemon smiled together. However, the relationship between these two Pokemon would take a dark turn. Upon evolving to Parasect and Bayleef, Parasect’s mushrooms started to take over Bayleef’s body, and transformed the Leaf Pokemon into a zombie. Bayleef’s neck was covered in fungi to replace its decayed leaves, and its eyes were devoid of expression. As the mushrooms that possessed Parasect spread, the Mushroom Pokemon had a mischievous expression on its face.

When Bayleef evolved into Meganium, a large mushroom covered its entire back, and more mushrooms engulfed its body. Parasect then made Meganium’s mouth its perch, and the usually pretty leaves around Meganium’s neck were changed into a decayed shade of brown and orange. For their work, the OP was complimented by otherPokemonfans. Similar topast creepyPokemonfusions, most comments expressed their distaste for imagining such a creative and macabre Pokemon fusion. Other users pointed out how PolyMarley42_Art started their presentation with Meganium rather than Chikorita.

Withthe upcoming release of the Indigo Disk DLCforPokemon Scarlet and Violet, trainers will soon be able to catch a Chikorita of their own. Only time will tell whatPokemonfans will create after the expansion is released.
