Avalanche Software has detailed a new summer update that’s set to come toHogwarts Legacyin just a few days.Hogwarts Legacylaunched early on in 2023 to high praise from fans of theHarry Potteruniverse and was considered one of the best RPGs of last year. The game puts players in the shoes of a student attending the famed school of witchcraft and wizardry during the late 1800s and allows them to explore the entire castle, Hogsmeade Village, and a number of surrounding towns and hamlets.
Although celebrated as one of the very best games set in theHarry PotterWizarding Worldand 2023’s bestseller, its lack of a photo mode disappointed many fans wishing to capture the beautifully whimsical nature of the castle and its surrounding areas. On top of that, Hufflepuff players were left sorely disappointed after a lackluster and all-too brief visit to Azkaban, and players on Xbox were left out of one PlayStation exclusive mission that enabled fans to own and operate their own shop in Hogsmeade.
A year and a half after its initial release,Hogwarts Legacyis attempting to make up for some of these shortcomings with a big new update set to go live on June 6. Its biggest feature by far is its addition of an extensive photo mode. The mode will allow players to hide NPCs, set a variety of character poses including sitting, change the time of day, and even change the season. Many players wished for the ability tochangeHogwarts Legacy’s seasonsat will after beating the game, but the ability to do so will only exist within the photo mode at this time.

The ability to properly refund Talent points is given to players byHogwarts Legacy’s new update as well, allowing players the freedom to play around more with their builds. Another notable feature coming with the update is the formerlyPlayStation exclusive Minding Your Own Business mission, which gives players their own Hogsmeade shop, finally becoming available to players on all platforms. Players can seek out a house elf named Penny in Hosgmeade at the beginning of Winter to start the quest. Furthermore, an assortment of fun cosmetics, like the Azkaban coat and outfit, taped-up glasses, Onyx Hippogriff Mount, and more will be available to players for free on June 6.
Aside from updates such as this one,Hogwarts Legacydoesn’t have any story DLC confirmed to be in the pipeline. Developer Avalanche has likely shifted over to its next game; whether it’s asequel to its super-successfulHogwarts LegacyRPG is a mystery. How such a sequel would be executed is also a complicated question, as using the same castle and open world would be less than ideal. Nevertheless, it should be several more years before the studio is ready to share what’s next.
