Summary
It’s safe to say thatStarfieldplayers have come across more than a few wacky bugs in the space-based RPG since it launched recently, and one perfectly-timed glitch shared by a fan shows Sarah attacking an NPC as if they were a Goomba from theSuper Mariofranchise. WhileStarfieldis widely considered to be the most polished game that Bethesda has ever released, no game is without its quirks, and many players have captured more than a few hilarious bugs involving the game’s various NPC companions.
Considered by some to be a sort of “Falloutin space,” it’s clear that many aspects ofStarfield’s design take direct inspirationfrom Bethesda’s prior works. Companions are a big part of the sci-fi RPG just as they were in titles such asFallout 4orThe Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, withStarfieldinvolving a small collection of potential followers that players can travel across the galaxy with.Starfield’s NPCs are useful for more than just carrying items and assisting in combat though, with players even able to assign and manage their ship’s crew to take advantage of certain perks.

Starfield’s various companionscan be somewhat unpredictable at times though, with the game’s characters often getting stuck in certain spots and being less-than-helpful in combat situations. One funny clip captured by a player known as PowderySpace features an odd and particularly well-timed glitch, which shows Sarah entering the room and immediately leaping on top of an NPC. This seemed to cause the character to vanish, creating the illusion that Sarah stomped them out of existence as if they were an enemy in theSuper Mariogames. It’s a little more likely that the action simply displaced the NPC, causing them to instantly teleport to their target destination rather than outright killing them.
This isn’t the first timeStarfield’s companion characters have been caught assaulting an NPC either, with several players sharing their own hilarious experiences ofVasco knocking certainStarfieldNPCsout cold for absolutely no reason. As funny as they can be at times, the game’s NPCs are hit-or-miss for a lot of players, largely due to many disliking some of the other human characters within Constellation.
Thankfully though,Starfieldoffers players the chance to approach the game however they please, meaning that putting up with companions is completely optional outside of a certain few quests within the game. The long list of perks andpotential character traits inStarfieldeven provides bonuses for traveling alone, meaning that players who prefer to be alone in the galaxy can thrive among the peace and quiet.
Starfieldis available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
