The dutiful Whiterun Guard is one of the most iconic sights in the world ofSkyrim, which may explain why one creative fan of the game used him as the face of a clever video parodying the famous video message from Steve Burns ofBlue’s Cluesfame. The video is equal parts hilarious and heartwarming, as the Whiterun Guard welcomes the viewer back toSkyrimand discusses the things they may have accomplished while away.
Some fans may consider the Whiterun Guard to be amongSkyrim’s most memorable NPCs, and for good reason. Since Whiterun is one of the first locations the Dragonborn can visit in the main storyline, mostSkyrimplayers may find themselves very familiar with the city’s guards. It may follow, then, that the guards would also be familiar with players, which is what kicks off YouTuber My Two Pence’s video creation.

The video, titled “Skyrim’s 10th Anniversary - Message from the Whiterun Guard,” begins withthe iconic Whiterun Guardasking the Dragonborn if the two of them can have a moment. When the Dragonborn agrees, the Whiterun Guard looks back over the game’s storyline, beginning with the Dragonborn’s first visit to Whiterun and concluding with the multiple time the Dragonborn saved everyone. However, he also notes that one day, the Dragonborn leftSkyrimbehind - and asks if they can talk about that for just a second, much like Steve Burns did.
The rest of the video closely follows Steve Burns' message to fans ofBlue’s Clues, but turned on its head: instead of apologizing for leaving suddenly, the Whiterun Guard talks about how the player moved on to other games. He encourages them to look at what they’ve accomplished, both inside video games and outside them, and congratulates the player on everything they’ve achieved. Judging by the responses under the video, this message from a belovedSkyrimNPC appears to have hit players as hard asSteve Burns' message toBlue’s Cluesfansdid.
At the end of the video, the Whiterun Guard directly quotes Steve Burns by stating that, “I guess what I wanted to say is…after all these years, I never forgot you.” Many users replied to state that they were deeply affected by this line. WhileThe Elder Scrolls 6is now on the horizon, it appears that fans won’t be forgetting aboutSkyrimor the friends they made there any time soon.
