2023 has been an impressively strong year for video games. Another massively-hyped indie sequel is releasing for PC Early Access in Q2 2024, and it could pave the way for another stunning year in indie releases ifHollow Knight: Silksongaccompanies it.

Hades 2 Should Be A Stellar Mid-2024 Release

Supergiant Games built up a name for itself over many years, releasingBastion,Transistor, andPyreto niche audiences. The studio finally hit it big with the mythological action roguelikeHades, which first released in December 2018 exclusively on the Epic Games Store in Early Access.Hadescame to Steam in December 2019, and eventually spread to consoles with its full release in 2020. Through excellent combat, great characters and visuals, and both progression and narrative that accommodated the replayable nature of roguelikes,Hadeswas a huge successand primed for the first sequel in Supergiant Games' catalog.

It has taken some time forHades 2to arrive since its first trailer, but Supergiant Games has stated that it will launch in Early Access for both Steam and EGS in Q2 2024. That meansHades 2should appear in April, May, or June, and will probably still have enough content to make early adopters feel like they’re playing a full game. Development will take some time to fully wrap up, but if all goes well, thenHades 2should already be raking in similar accoladesto its predecessor.

There’s currentlyno indication of whenSilksongwill be out, but Team Cherry’s testers have stated that things are going well and that the game is shaping up to be a worthy sequel. With fans eagerly watching every major gaming showcase, the whole game industry should hear aboutSilksongas soon as it gets a launch window.

It’s not implausible that the game could come out some time in 2024.Hollow Knight: Silksonghas been in development for a long time, and even with real life issues affecting development, what’s been shown in trailers and screenshots implies a lot of its parts have been made. IfHades 2andHollow Knight: Silksongboth end up releasing in the same year, indie fans will already be spoiled for choice like many gamers are in 2023. Great game releases are on a roll right now, and it would be a triumph if that streak remained unbroken for another year.
