Fans of the long the running anime seriesGundam, which features giant mech suits fighting between one another, all while being controlled by a pilot, are always excited about new media in the franchise. Watching the anime is one thing, but being a part of this world is another. When putting these giant mechs in an arena-based shooter, a lot of things can happen; certain Gundams may be better than others, forcing developers to re-balance their game. However, this isn’t much of a case for the newest shooter in the arena-shooter genre calledGundam Evolution.

TheOverwatchstyle of gameplay mixed with these massive mobile suits may seem like an overwhelming thing for players, but in reality, it’s quite smooth. However, what can make gameplay a lot more immersive is what Gundam players pick; most share a lot of the same features, with abilities being the things that separate them. This list will break down the ones that stand out the most; plus, if players usesome handy tipswhen going in,Gundam Evolutionwill be a game that players can get excel at.

Updated on June 28, 2025 by Raza Malik:Live service games have changed the landscape of gaming overall. At any point during the lives of these games, they change and become different from what they initially were. Games likeApex Legendsare good examples of that, with each new legend that’s introduced, the meta changes because it needs to. Much likeOverwatch 2, which introducesnew things each season, Gundam Evolution does that as well.

However, unlike Overwatch 2, Gundam Evolution has to change quite a bit because now it’s available on consoles. On top of that, developers have been working hard to re-balance many mobile suits, which in turn can make the lesser popular suits some of thebetter mobile suits in Gundam Evolution. Asthe game grows, so does this list, in turn, hopefully, players will try out and experiment with the other types of suits the game offers.

11Guntank

Not a full-fledged Gundam, but it still has the punch of one. Players may not use the Guntank based on how it looks, and because of that, they’ll miss out on a mech that is very important and versatile. There are many Gundams on this list that can adapt well toGundam Evolution, but the Guntank reigns supreme in this category. On defense, players can use its high-damage cannons that do an AoE effect, which causes medium damage to a medium-sized area. This may not seem like a lot, but inGundam Evolution, the maps aren’t that big, so doing damage in a medium-sized area can change the tempo of the match for one team.

On attack, players can use their rush ability which causes enemies to be thrown off balance, allowing the team to push for the point. Plus, it can bring back downed Gundams rather quickly, which can help if they also need to hold a point. The Guntank’s ultimate is a core fighter, which players can control, and it detonates on impact; this can offer breathing room for players and their team. InGundam Evolution, this is really important.

gundam evolution methuss

10Marasi (UC)

This suit can be hard to use but also annoys the enemy team quite a bit, so there’s a trade-off. Boasting massive health with 1200 HP, and two dashes can make thisGundamboth over-the-top, and one of the best mobile suits inGundam Evolution.LikeOverwatch 2,which has manyawesome weapon designs, Marasi (UC) probably has one of the best-designed weapons in the game. Its Fedayeen Rifle is great for midrange attacks, and when aiming down sights, it gets even better. The Beam Blade can be a problem for enemy players if they’re on defense, because it’s a melee strike that can stun and knock back enemies.

If the enemy is already stunned the damage is doubled. Much like Roadhog’s chain inOverwatch 2,the Sea Snake pulls an enemy in and players can unload on them at a closer distance. The G-Maneuver is great for when the player and their team want to make a push because if there’s more than one enemy player in front of the Marasi (UC), they can all be stunned by the Sea Snake, and the team can wipe them out. However, as mentioned before, this suit is much harder to use and requires time and patience when using it.

gundam evolution GM

9Methuss

A utility-based Gundam, and sinceGundam Evolutionis an arena-based shooter, having a healer or two is always a good idea, especially if players are on a ranked playlist. However, the main issue with Methuss inGundam Evolutionis its health. While it does as incredible healing capabilities, players who run Methuss will note that they don’t need to be near a downed Gundam to get them up, but rather aim their repair cable at a teammate, and that works the same.

Using this Gundam means that players shouldn’t go in an area alone, but rather with another two teammates. This way, players can get help from the offensive end while they heal their teammates. On defense, Methuss is quite useful as well, by dropping a turret, a point that needs to be defended gives the team an extra gun. Its ultimate is quite important as well, since it increases the damage of one ally and also allows the ally to take less damage.

8GM

While not as versatile or as self-reliant as theGundamsuit or Pale Rider, the GM suit is great when other teammates are around. Sadly, it can feel like it’s a great long to medium-rangeGundam,it’s designed for close-quarter combat, and defending a point. Which can turn off players from using it. The Beam Spray Rifle is great for close range and with no accuracy drop, players can suppress better with it.

Plus the GM suit has a shield that acts a lot like Sazabi, so players can survive longer. The Detonator Bomb is great, especially for those setting a charge game mode, it explodes when the player triggers it and does aoe damage. The GM suit’s grenade is super helpful to the team, it doesn’t damage, but it heals any player near its vicinity. If the team is playing strategically, combining all its abilities plus the shield bash and its G-Maneuver which is a minefield, the GM suit can be a threat, and also one of the best suits in the game.

7Asshimar

One of the more interesting suits inGundam Evolution.Players can attack a point, transform into a flying “donut” and quickly get out. This suit is pretty diverse for what it can do, if player attack they can use the Large Beam Rifle that is great for mid-range shots, but also long-range as well. If they hold the trigger down, players can send out a charged shot that does more damage. If they need to clear out and make other enemy suits flee an area, they can throw a Napalm Grenade which does a ton of aoe damage.

This is great for the defense, and the attack. The G-Maneuver of Asshimar is quite deadly, but if players mess up on the execution of it, it can cost them. The move is a punch, that can deflect all attacks coming towards Asshimar, plus it can knock back and stun enemies who come in the way of the punch. So if players want to use this move, they should verify their enemies are in front of them.

gundam evolution gundam Cropped

6Gundam

The original Gundam Suit that’s well-balanced, and can operate in most play styles. However, the Pale Rider Gundam is a little better than this one because that one can act as a one-man army. However, players should certainly try the Gundam suit out, because it can still be a threat on the field. Its Beam Rifle behaves a lot like Nu Gundams, however, if players aim down sights, the accuracy will go up, but the damage will go down. This can benefit players depending on their situation.

The Gundam suit’s abilities are something players can have fun with, in turn making it one the best mobile suits inGundam Evolution. The suit has a shield but, unlike Sazabi, it’s an ability, so when it’s gone players must wait for the cool down to go. Its other ability is a chain that can push enemies back, and stun them, allowing teammates to finish the job. The G-Maneuver can easily clear any closed area, and if players are playing capture the point, they can launch this attack which causes massive aoe damage. This suit is great, but it’s better when the team is around.

gundam evolution pale rider

5Pale Rider

This is a good all-rounder Gundam and one that players start with, and the best part is much likeOverwatch’sheroes that areeasy to learn, the Pale Ride is exactly like that as well. Armed with a machine gun, a grenade that detonates on impact, and a health pod that can heal in a small area makes this Gundam the first one players should use. On top of that, the Pale Riders EMP grenade can turn the tide of a match if the player is on the attack. Because as soon as they drop that EMP, enemy Gundams will be stunned for a few seconds, allowing the Pale Riders team to come in and finish the job.

Its Ultimate isn’t something players should shy away from either because it increases everything on the Gundam, so all its abilities do more healing and more damage. It’s a great way for a final push. Having balanced health and a dash limit of 2 per single charge allows Pale Rider to be a very versatile Gundam. However, there are better ones inGundam Evolution, but players should still get how the game plays, and that’s by playing the Pale Rider.

gundam evolution barbatos

4Gundam Barbatos

There are a few melee-based Gundams inGundam Evolution, and it can be really hard to learn and adapt to that play style, but Gundam Barbatos makes it easy. Being the middle ground for all melee-based Gundams by offering players 1000 health, which is quite high for a Gundam in its class, and a dash limit of three allows this Gundam to do a lot of damage in a small amount of time. As mentioned before,Gundam Evolutionis much likeOverwatch, and Gundam Barbatos showcases that because, just likeOverwatch’sbest DPS heroes, Barbatos offers that as well.

Most of its attacks it’s centered around close-range, which can be harder to play, but when players fully get into the rhythm of how this Gundam works,Gundam Evolutionbecomesa must-playfor both fans and newcomers to the series. The best way to use Gundam Barbatos is to come at the enemy with a surprise attack, which it can do, by jumping up and doing a ground slam that makes every enemy Gundam stagger and allows the team to make a push. Plus, its ultimate can clear up an area, provided the team is giving players extra damage to do so. This is a Gundam that players should use after they have learned how the meta works because there’s a learning curve.

3Sazabi

Tanks are really important in arena-based shooters; this is evident because, inOverwatch, tanks help, depending on if players pickeda good one, which does matter. InGundam Evolutionthis rule applies. However, Sazabi plays different on the attack than it does on defense; on the attack, players can bring up its shield, which gives another problem for the enemy player because, unlike the normal Gundam, Sazabi’s shield is not an ability, so they switch back and forth. While the enemy team is pushing, players who use Sazabi can use their shield plus their massive health of 1400, which offers enough help, so the rest of the team can support the tank Gundam while pushing up.

All game modesare different, and in defense, that’s very clear because players will have to change their play style. Players who use Sazabi on defense won’t have to change much. The shield is still very important; however, the axes' ability of the Gundam works better on defense since it throws enemies off the point, takes away a lot of health, and stuns them. So Sazabi is very important and a critical Gundam for both sides of the match.

gundam evolution sazabi

2Nu Gundam

This mobile suit is the newest entry for season two inGundam Evolution. There are many ways to get it, players can grind for it, or can usethe Evo Coinsto do so. What makes it one of the best mobile suits inGundam Evolution,is that it’s pretty dynamic in what it can do. It’s a fully self-reliantGundamand can hold a point very well provided the player has some backup. It’s best used for mid-range because its Beam Rifle can only go so far, however, once it hits, it does quite a lot of damage. If players use aim-down sights, there will be no recoil, but if they shoot from the hip then it becomes harder to use.

Its funnels are like the Sazabi suit and can attack an enemy, and if players shoot at an enemy with the Beam Rifle, they can mark the enemy, allowing more funnels to attack, meaning the enemy will go down faster. Its other ability is a rocket launcher, which causes aoe damage, it also makes the player jump back, so when they use the rocket launcher, they can easily flee if they need to. The G-Maneuver is pretty cool as well, creating a shield around the Nu Gundam, which can help players push to a point, and have a backup with one funnel attacking in the direction the Nu Gundam is looking at.
