The death of George Floyd and the subsequent mass protests have thrown the United States into a bit of chaos. This includes the video game industry, with many game developers and publishers pushing back events to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement. The latest event delayed in support of Black Lives Matter is theGuerrilla Collective, which was originally scheduled to take place on June 6 as part of the ongoing Summer Game Fest events.

The Guerrilla Collective is set to highlight a variety of video games, with the headlining title beingLarian Studios' highly-anticipatedBaldur’s Gate 3. However, the event has been delayed to next weekend, now taking place on June 13, 14, and 15. On June 7, Guerrilla Collective will be showing a special presentation that that focuses on games made by black developers or feature black protagonists. More details on that event will come “shortly,” according to Guerrilla Collective’s statement. It’s unclear at this time when Guerrilla Collective’s original livestream will take place (June 13, 14, or 15), but more details on that should come soon as well.

With the delay of Guerrilla Collective’s presentation, theSummer Game Fest June 2020 schedulehas been rearranged quite a bit. Now the next day for fans to look forward to is June 9, which will see the start of Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition, an update onWorld of Warcraft: Shadowlands, and a look at what’s next forDestiny 2.

Of course, the big June Summer Game Fest event is thePS5 game reveal, which was originally meant to take place on June 4. However, Sony has delayed the PS5 game reveal event indefinitely in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Unlike Guerrilla Collective, Sony has yet to announce a new date for the PS5 game reveal event, but it has said that fans can expect more information sooner rather than later.

So while things have been shuffled around, June should still be big for the gaming industry and Summer Game Fest. July should also be quite exciting for video game fans, as that’s when Microsoft will be showing its first-party Xbox Series X games, includingHalo Infiniteand much more.
