The Cayo Perico Heist will add a brand new island, social areas to explore, and a large surprise off the coast of the island.The Game Awards 2020featured a new trailer for the Cayo Perico Heist that reveals that players will pilot a submarine during the biggest heist inGrand Theft Autoyet.
The submarine will operate like a mobile headquarters, but will also be utilized for combat in the heist. Based on previous heists, the submarine may have to be purchased in-game. There are vehicles with similar functions for sale on the Warstock Cache and Carry website, such as the Terrobyte armored truck, the Avenger military plane, and the Mobile Operations Center semi-truck. The vehicles available on the website arenot as expensive as some of the other vehicles, and are fully customizable and serve various purposes in heists.

When the Cayo Perico Heist becomes available inGrand Theft Auto Onlineon December 15th, players may have to purchase a submarine to complete the heist. If the submarine is like other vehicles available on Warstock, it will have customizable interiors and may have special weapon modifications. During the trailer, the submarine can be seen shooting a controllable missile towards helicopters, so it may have a few weapon options. The trailer also reveals pieces of the heist players may encounter like a shootout on speed boats, scaling walls with a grapple hook, and of course, stealing valuable items like cash, gold, and intel.
For the first time, players will be able totake on the heist solo or with up to three players. Like other heists, players have options how to approach the heist, so it will be interesting to see how the heist differs between going solo and with a crew. Regardless of how many players are in on the Cayo Perico Heist, based on the trailer, they will definitely need a submarine.
The Cayo Perico Heist was teased withmysterious events inGrand Theft Auto Onlinelike bodies washing to shore and strange messages posted on social media. The announcement of the heist update was met with mixed reactions, with some upset that Rockstar did not revealGrand Theft Auto 6.
Some fans were upset that Rockstar revealed a little more information about the Cayo Perico Heist during the 2020 Game Awards instead of a large reveal. However, those excited for the Cayo Perico Heist only have a few days before the heist becomes available along with tons of new content including a radio station featuring 100 songs, and theMusic Locker nightclubthat will feature guest DJs.
Grand Theft Auto Onlineis now available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, while a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S update coming later in 2021.
