Fans ofSucker Punch’sGhost of Tsushimawould know of Jin Sakai’s journey in his battle against the Mongol invasion of Tsushima Island. Moreover, Jin can use his training as a samurai or his Ghost skills to diversify his approach in his crusade. In turn, players of the open-world stealth-action game will never have the same playthrough. Additionally, players got treated to an immersive world, a compelling narrative, and highly-diversified gameplay. Interestingly,Ghost of Tsushima’s new DLC takes players away from Jin’s story and into the world of competitive multiplayer.

InGhost of Tsushima: Legends, teams of players duke it out using the same battle tactics and strategy in the single-player experience. Moreover, players can choose one of four unique classes to assign to their custom characters. Just what are the Assassin, Hunter, Ronin, and Samurai roles?

10Start With One Class

Unlike the base game,Legendsallow teams of players to live their dreams as multi-talented warriors in a fantastical Feudal Japan as they save the realm from various threats. However, players don’t need to “buy” a separate game to accessLegends. In fact, fans only need to get V1.1 of the base game to unlock theLegendsfeature for free! Players who do this will see a new character called Gyozen the Storyteller that can bring them to theLegendslobby. Likewise, players can go to theLegendslobby via the main screen.

AllLegendsplayers will be able to create characters of all Classes in the new multiplayer mode. However, new players only get access to one Class of their choice when they begin their journey. Thankfully, they can unlock new Classes as they progress through the game’s many modes and features.

9Make Teams With No Restrictions

As mentioned in the trailer,Legendscomes with four classes: Assassin, Hunter, Ronin, and Samurai. Moreover, players can participate in two-player or even four-player missions of various difficulties and settings. Interestingly, while the game shows teams of all four classes in action, players don’t seem to be restricted by a one-class-per-team arrangement.

In turn, this factor means teams can be comprised of any class combinations players wish. They may try to go optimal with the original four classes. However, they can form teams of everyone being of one class, or even 1-3 or 2-2 permutations. As such, multiplayer inLegendscan have different results depending on these setups.

8Assassin: Master Of Stealth, Subterfuge

Players of the game’s story mode will fondly remember the Ghost techniques Jin Sakai can use to add a bit of finesse to his missions. InLegends, the Assassin class serves as the equivalent of Jin’s Ghost, thanks to the Assassin’s specialization towards stealth and subterfuge. In the base game, Jin’s Ghost hasaccess to various toolsto aid in his stealthy incursions. However, inLegends, the Assassin seems to share a similar trait.

Interestingly, this uncanny specialization doesn’t seem apparent immediately. After all, Assassins also wield a Katana and a Half-bow to support them in both melee and ranged combat. Moreover, they also have a Kunai in one of their quick-draw slots. However, Assassins do have Caltrops in their other quick-draw slot, poised to help them make a hasty retreat.

Moreover, the Assassin’s build seems to rely heavily on making more powerful stealth attacks instead of direct confrontations. In turn, they easily hint towards being a powerful DPS class in the game mode. Interestingly,Legendsseems to make this apparent as well. After all, the Assassin’s Ultimate Attack, Shadow Strike, enables them to teleport around the battlefield to annihilate opponents quickly.

6Hunter: Long-Range Specialist

As with its namesake, the Hunter serves as theLegendsequivalent to a long-range class. Unlike its melee-oriented counterparts, the Hunter specializes in long-range combat. Moreover, despite the rather “classic” nature of the bow and arrow, the Hunter demonstrates prowess in sniping enemies from afar.

Arsenal-wise, they seem quite similar to their companions. After all, they also have Healing Gourd and Dirt Throw as their quick-fire abilities. However, the Hunter differs in that they use the more tactical Longbow to make more precise shots. Moreover, they can resort to their Katana as a backup weapon if they end up stuck in melee.

5Hunter: Staggering Arrow, Eye Of Uchitsune

Hunters take full advantage of the battlefield thanks to their long-range versatility. InLegends, Hunters can access a class ability called the Staggering Arrow, which can slow down groups with explosive arrow shots. Interestingly,Legendsmay implement an option for Hunters to change arrow types with different effects to further maximize their versatility.

However, their ultimate attack Eye of Uchitsune can devastate entire enemy groups from afar. With this special attack, Hunters can unleash a barrage of arrows to fend off multiple opponents. In turn, the Hunter easily becomes a reliable scout or even last line of defense, as their long-range superiority can protect the team from the rear.

4Ronin: Proactive Support, Sustainability

Interestingly, of all the Classes inLegends, it’s the Ronin that serves as the game’s equivalent of a support class. Ideally, their presence could help the party get a tremendous advantage in the battlefield thanks to their skillset. In essence, the Ronin seems to have a similar “default” setup with the Samurai and Assassin, as they also possess a Katana and a Half-Bow. Moreover, they wear thesame kinds of armoras their companion classes.

Ronin Class Preview - Ghost of Tsushima Legends Classes

However, the Ronin differs in terms of their quick-fire items. Interestingly, they possess a Kunai and Smoke Bomb in these slots. Despite the lack of actual demos, it seems these items should help the Ronin make quick long-ranged attacks and emergency retreats - perfect for repositioning.

3Ronin: Spirit Animal, Breath Of Izanami

Fans may have taken particular notice of the Ronin because of its special set of abilities. Instead of having powerful attacks and group-based skills, the Ronin has an interesting arsenal of support abilities. For instance, the Ronin class ability Spirit Animal summons a Spirit Dog to aid their allies in combat. However, trailers have shown the Ronin actually summon more than one dog, potentially making the Ronina summoner-type class.

Moreover, their Ultimate doesn’t take the form of an attack. Rather, the Ronin’s Breath of Izanami can revive the entire team. It’s yet to be revealed whether Breath of Izanami works on one or two allies. Regardless, having this kind of ability enforces the Ronin’s superiority in terms of support.

2Samurai: Balanced Offense, Defense

Of all classes inLegends, fans might treat the Samurai as the “default” class. After all, Jin Sakai of the base game alreadydisplayed his prowess as a swordsmanagainst the Mongols. However,Legendsseem to tease the Samurai as one of the most balanced classes in the multiplayer mode.

In essence, the Samurai relies on the Katana to deal massive melee damage to enemies around them. Moreover, the Half-Bow serves as a reliable mid-range combat option to strike enemies from afar. The Dirt Throw and Healing Gourd serve as their default quick-fire gears, perfect for distraction and much-needed healing, respectively. In turn, the game sets up the Samurai as a tanking class with decent long-ranged options as needed.

1Samurai: Spirit Pull, Hachiman’s Fury

Fans will easily recognize the Samurai’s melee versatility not just with their equipment set up, but their special set of abilities as well. InLegends, Samurai have access to the Spirit Pull special ability. Despite the lack of solid demonstrations, it seems the Spirit Pull serves as an offensive ability that may be able to help Samurai strike faster or perhaps stronger.

Meanwhile, Samurai also have access to an ultimate attack called Hachiman’s Fury. Thanks to this ability, Samurai can cleave through opponents as they strike them in quick succession. Moreover, this can become a worthy toolagainst powerful bosses.
