Searching for the key is a waste of time since it’s only obtainable while a certain Quest is active inGenshin Impact. The Quest itself is not that hard to complete, but it is time-consuming and Virgil might become annoying later on. TheAncient Keycan be obtained early, but it’s highly recommended to just follow the quest to unlock the rest of the Institutes.

How To Get The Ancient Key In Genshin Impact
To get the Ancient Key forunderwater Fontaine inGenshin Impact,players must trigger the Aqueous Tidemarks Quest. While exploring the underwater area with Virgil,players will obtain the Ancient Key through one of the Chests.
First, teleport to the Statue of the Seven in the Court of Fontaine and Virgil is immediately seen with a Quest Mark on top of his head. Approach the NPC and talk with him so the underwater exploration starts. Many of the underwater mechanics will be explained through this adventure, so Travelers can consider it a tutorial Quest inGenshin Impact.
How To Find A Way To Open The Path Forward In Genshin Impact
As mentioned before, the Ancient Key is found in one of theChests inGenshin Impact. Upon triggering the underwater exploration in the Aqueous Tidemarks Quest, players will eventually reach the former site of Liliacruces Forum.
Open a Chest that’s available in the area and claim the AncientKey inGenshin Impactas well as other useful materials. Note thatplayers may not be able to get this key if the Aqueous Tidemarks Quest is inactive, so it’s crucial to speak to Virgil and journey with him here beforehand.
Most of the puzzles in the location require the help of the Hunter’s Ray to solve. Simply “attack” the blue translucent Ray to take their Water Blade Skill, then use it to either beat enemies in the area, or to cut FontemerSeagrass.
Where To Use The Ancient Key In Genshin Impact
The Ancient Key is used to open one of the locked doors of the Liliacruces Forum during the Aqueous TidemarksQuest inGenshin Impact. Upon obtaining the Ancient Key, proceed deeper and clear the Fontmer Seagrass blocking the way using water blades.
Next, Absorb the Xenochromatic Armored Crab’s ability to unleash a shockwave, destroying the rubble blocking the way. Swim forward to find a big gate with a mechanism next to it.Use the Ancient Key on the mechanism to open the doorand proceed to explore the sunken city.
