Despite the game’s crossovers continuing to wow many fans,Fortnite’s collaborations have never quite reached the high bar that the game set back in 2018. Fornite’s Thanos Crossover Set a High Standard

It’s crazy to think that it’s been six years since Thanos first came toFortnite, and although there have been plenty of great crossovers inFortnitesince then, this event is still one of the best the game has ever done due to the introduction of the Limited Time Mode, Infinity Gauntlet.

WhiletheLEGO Fortnitemodeis on another level, in terms of smaller skin-focused crossovers with specific IP, Epic should take note of the Thanos era.

Infinity Gauntlet Mode As a Blueprint

There seems to be anew major event inFortniteevery week, but one of the main features that made Thanos inFortniteso special is that he was given his own mode that was insanely fun. There have been many different waysFortnitehas incorporated iconic features from the various IP the game has collaborated with, but there still has yet to be a crossover that has spawned anything as fun asFortnite’s Infinity Gauntlet mode.

In this Solo mode, Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet is dropped somewhere randomly in the map while competing players have to find it. Once found, the player who wields the Infinity Gauntlet becomes Thanos, gaining new powers and abilities. The Infinity Gauntlet mode put an exciting asymmetrical quality to the game that has yet to be matched, and future crossovers should be more focused on recapturing the glory of such a memorable momentinFortnite’s history.

Fortnite Is Missing Great Opportunities

Infinity Gauntlet isn’t the onlygreat Limited Time Modeto come toFortnite, but it was definitely one of the most popular. Current and future Fortnite crossovers are setting the stage for great opportunities thatFortniteis completely missing. For example, the addition of Solid Snake to this season ofFortniteis just begging for a stealth mode. A stealth-focused mode would be a great way to combineFortniteandMetal Gearinto one game. With the majority ofFortnitebeing focused on action-forward gameplay, a stealth mode could offer a unique change of pace.

The recent rumor of anupcomingDevil May Crycrossoveris also fertile ground for a new mode to be brought to life. TheDevil May Cryseries features melee-focused action, which would be a great chance forFortniteto add some sort of special melee mode in honor of the crossover. It would almost feel wrong playing as Dante without being able to hack and slash through opposing players.

New crossovers inFortniteare exciting to look forward to, but just adding a beloved character without any major updates focused around them can be disappointing. Yes,Fortniteadded cardboard boxes as a nod toMetal Gear, and there are several new features focused on theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but a full-blown mode like Infinity Gauntlet gave the Thanos crossover actual meaning and offered much more to fans.
