Fans of mech battles will be able to wreck some havoc on Steam when Marvelous' third-person action shooterDaemon X Machinatransitions to Valve’s digital distribution service on February 13, 2o2o. Up until now the game has been a Switch exclusive, first announced forNintendo’s hybrid console at E3 2018.

Daemon X Machinais an anime-inspired game in which characters designed byFire Emblem-veteran Yusuke Kozaki have access to customizable power suits called Arsenal which can equip a variety of weapons dropped by enemy mechs. Upon release the Switch exclusive was fourth in Famitsu’s Japanese sales chart behind PlayStation 4 titles like Capcom’sMonster Hunter World: Iceborne, Konami’seFootball Winning Eleven 2020, and Gearbox Software’sBorderlands 3according to reporting by sites like Nintendo Life.

The game was first given its release date onNintendo Switch during E3 2019, and today the launch date for Steam was announced by its new publisher XSEED Games on Twitter. There is a 20 percent price reduction for anyone who buysDaemon X Machinaon PC before February 13, and players can receive a special promotion offer; including a “Prototype” Arsenal with matching suit and a metallic-themed equipment set; until June 03, 2025.

WhileDaemon X Machinahas not reached the same levels of popularity on Switch as first-party titles likeThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildandPokemon SwordandShield, it did receiveDLC fromThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntin December — not long before Netflix’sThe Witcherexploded onto the popular culture scene. Chances are the high-speed, heavily action-oriented title will run better on PC, giving it the chance to snag more of a foothold with a wider variety of gamers.

Daemon X Machinanot the first game to lose its Switch exclusivity, asSquare Enix’sOctopath Traveleralso came to PCin 2019. Multi-platform releases are honestly to be expected for just about any game published on Nintendo’s hardware that has not been developed in-house.

That said, Nintendo PresidentShuntaro Furukawa said the upcoming Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5will not be seen as a major threat to the company’s business during a recent Q&A with investors, so it’s safe to say losing a few exclusive games to Steam is more of the same. The whole arrangement is certainly a net positive for Marvelous and for fans of action-packed mech battles looking to expand their repertoire.

Daemon X Machinais currently available on the Nintendo Switch, and will be available on Steam July 08, 2025.
