One of the most positively received games from Square Enix in recent years isFinal Fantasy 7 Remake. Out of all the party members introduced in the ever-popular entry is theiconic Red XIII, a red lion-like creature who is met near the tail-end of the Midgar section in the original.

This makesRed XIII a non-playable party member inFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, at least for this first part of Square Enix’s episodic re-imaginings. The developers have said that with the multiple parts, there is a chance that Red XIII will end up being playable like other party members currently in the game. Despite Red XIII’s reduced role in the first part, he still contributes to the story as an experiment that is being created from Shinra, one of the main antagonistic forces ofFF7. This subplot makes it the perfect subject for a recent billboard ad in Tokyo.

This ad forFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Intergradeshows off some incredible technology that is possible thanks to an L-shaped 3D billboard outside of Shinjuku Station. A video of the ad was posted online, with Red XIII hopping out as the city of Midgar is seen behind him. He takes a quick look outside of the area, even overlooking the edge to see the people below him, before sitting down to take a nap.

This nap is rudely interrupted by theShinra Electric Power Company, where helicopters give chase to Red XIII across the building, eventually stopping when he runs out of places to run. He then comedically falls into a different area, complete with toys and other objects. Once he pops out of the pile of toys, he is seen blowing on a party favor while wearing a silly pair of glasses, which also stick out in 3D.

The ad ends when Red XIII tries taking a nap on the edge again, where the borders of the box close up, getting trapped on his head. Once he pulls it back inside, the logo forFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Intergradeis on full display, seen across the L-shaped billboard. It’s a fun adventure that highlights the lion-like party member, where hopefully side-quests or plot beats like this can be reflected in the second part ofFinal Fantasy 7 Remake.

Final Fantasy 7 Remakeis available for PC, PS4, and PS5.
