Unlock Gold Saucer Mini-Games And Trade Points

to unlock theGold Saucer amusement area, players must reach Chapter 8, “All That Glitters”. After going through the initial 3D Brawler tutorial and spending a night to rest at Ghost Square Hotel, players will be given access to five mini-games in the Gold Saucer area:3D Brawler,Galactic Saviors,G-Bike,Queen’s Blood, andMusclehead Colosseum. The sixth and last one, the Chocobo Square racing mini-game, is unlocked later, towards the end of Chapter 8. All of these mini-games must be attempted at least once in order to progress further in the story during Chapter 8 so these are not missable. Additional difficulties and rewards for each of the mini-games are unlocked when Chapter 12, “A Golden Key” is reached.

Upon completion and reruns of the following mini-games, players will earn more Gold Saucer Points than they know what to do with them. Fortunately, outside each of the distinct areas of Gold Saucer, the GP Exchange vendor can be found who will help Cloud trade the Gold Saucer Points for many interesting prizes, including exotic figurines, equipment, Queen’s Blood card decks, and more.

3D Brawler

This is a one-versus-one fighting game inWonderment Squarewhere Cloud will dodge, block, and punch his way through victory against a series of blocky fighters. Re-imagining the originalFinal Fantasy 7brawler game with a tip-of-the-hat to its polygonal esthetics, 3D Brawler will test the players’ reflexes and versatility with the different command options required of them. During Chapter 8, three brawlers will be unlocked, each with varying levels of difficulty and move-sets that the player should be looking out for. Chapter 12 sees Shiva and Ifrit being unlocked as opponents in this mini-game. Completing the “Cant Stop Won’t Stop” side quest unlocks Sephiroth as an oppponent.

Each opponent Cloud faces has a set of Special Skills that can be viewed before the fight. To maneuver against these formidable foes’ strikes, Cloud will need to rely on basic evasive techniques like swaying left (L stick to the left) or right (R stick to the right). For some of the more advanced opposition, the attacks might need to be blocked or evaded by vertical movement of the Left and Right Analog sticks.

Upon subsequent successful evasion or block maneuvers,Cloud will fill up the ATB gauge, giving him access to launch his offensive abilities with a Right Hook (R2) or Left Hook (L2). The visual cue to use the correct hook is to see which side of the opponent’s body is unguarded, with the arm by the side. Once enough damage is dealt, Cloud can use the Limit ability (L2+R2) to finish off the round.

G-Bike

Within Wonderment Square, players will get to try a VR session of exhilarating G-bike chase sequences as Cloud swings and boosts his way through a horde of Shinra motorcyclists. G-Bike mini-game is one of the smaller ones inRebirth, with a single track, Midgar Expressway, brought back fromFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, but now with some exciting rewards associated with it for completion. The G-Bike mini-game’s Expert difficulty is unlocked upon returning to Gold Saucer in Chapter 12.

The gameplay loop is retained from the predecessor, where the objective is to avoid damage inflicted on the bike by constantly collecting G Panels to restore energy reserves while fending off the opponents with Left Attack (Square) or Right Attack (Circle). Additionally, players will need to Guard (R1) and Brake (L2) occasionally to avoid obstacles and enemy attacks along the way. Braking to avoid bombs, especially on Expert difficulty, comes in pretty handy. Lastly, Cloud can collect Gold Boost Panels to fill up the Nitrous Boost gauge (X), put the pedal to the metal (R2), and clear out enemies in his way (Spinning Slash with Triangle) in order to reach the finish line. The total score is calculated based on the time taken to reach the finish line as well as the number of enemy targets eliminated.

Queen’s Blood

The last mini-game situated in Wonderment Square is the popular card game, now with exciting new challengers. In this mini-game, Cloud must face 13 opponents, the best that Queen’s Blood competition has ever seen inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth.Only 6 challenges are unlocked during Chapter 8, so for the majority of the card battles, players will need to wait until Chapter 12. In addition to Easy and Advanced challenges, The Gold Saucer’sQueen’s Blood mini-gamealso has three multi-round Survival challenges where the rewards depend on the total points accrued at the end of the match. In that sense, for Survival mode, it’s not just the victory but also the player’s performance, which is taken into account for the prizes. Moreover, unlike the other challenges, Survival challenges do not entertain, players' card deck of choice as there are more restrictions in this mode.

Galactic Saviors

The only mini-game located in Speed Square, Galactic Saviors, is similar to G-Bike in terms of simulated vehicular combat, but this time Cloud will fly a starcruiser to bring anend to the Gilgamesh armyof space invaders. A tougher difficulty, Expert, is unlocked when returning to Gold Saucer during Chapter 12 of the game.

Throughout the course of this thrilling space adventure, the player’s starcruiser is equipped to shoot standard laser bursts (Square) as well as a stronger projectile, Proton Bomb (Triangle) that is more useful for red spaceships that have a higher health pool. The session starts with the spaceship having 5 Restorative Charges (Circle) to replenish the health of the ship. Any damage can be avoided by doing a Barrel Roll (R2) or moving out of the range of the projectile. Since there is a single energy bar that is consumed every time a player unleashes a Proton Bomb or performs a Barrel Roll, it’s advisable to only use the latter for stronger attacks like the laser beam that Enkidu-class warship projects.

In order to regenerate the energy bar quicker, rack up bonus points by performing feats like Squad Kill, Quintiple Kills, or Close Call to name a few. These will also help the player achieve a higher score at the end of the whole ordeal. Lastly, for the Mother Ship, take out the cannons first to earn bonus points and make the fight much more forgiving.
