Final Fantasy 14game director Naoki Yoshida recently gave fans of his work a glimpse inside his personal life as he streamed himself baking cookies, drinking wine, and playing games for several hours. Yoshida also gave viewers a tour of theFree Company’s housingbefore wearing a Craftsman’s Aprons that matched his in-game avatar.
Yoshida recently took to NGC’sofficial Twitch channel to showthe world his favorite cookie recipe, which has since been translated by Twitter user Aitaikimochi. He performed live while drinking a 2018 Napa Valley red wine, which according to Yoshida goes very well with his cookies.

Yoshida took an hour to make his coffee cookies while interacting with his community, donning an apron that matched hisFinal Fantasy 14lalafell black mage. The game director spent over seven hours streaming in total, including some FF14 Unreal Titan gameplay and a Q&A to wrap things up. While Yoshida and his Free Company wiped on Unreal Titan a few times, they managed to prevail in the end thanks to dedication.
The developer’s personality really shined through in his livestream, showing his great sense of humor and humble nature. TheFinal Fantasy 14game director has clearly played a lot of the MMO, but fans got an idea of how experienced he is in the kitchen too. While baking his coffee cookies, and drinking his wine, Yoshida somehow managed to get an entire block of butter stuck in his whisk, and he later made little smiley faces out of chocolate chips. While the entire livestream was in Japanese, many fans who didn’t understand the language still appreciated the stream due to Yoshida’s personality, the baking, and theintenseFinal Fantasy 14gameplay.
With Yoshida and his friends having countless laughs during the recent livestream, it shows what a positive environment theFinal Fantasy 14game director seems to appreciate on a daily basis. It also seems fair to say that he likes to unwind after a long day of work. While he is clearly skilled in the game, it was also refreshing to see his group encounter problems that will feel familiar to fans of the MMO. TheFinal Fantasy 14gameplay was enough to be entertaining on its own, but Yoshida’s variety of content showed the game director’s personality beyond the project he’s worked so hard on - one which will soon bereceiving a beta test on PS5.
Final Fantasy 14is available now for PC and PS4. A PS5 version is set to release later this year.
