Held every August, the Moonfire Faire ofFinal Fantasy 14is not tied to any holiday in particular but is based loosely on the concept of a tropical summer vacation. Each year, with a few exceptions, the Moonfire Faire also has a jumping puzzle for players to conquer for bragging rights. Inthe 2022 edition of the Moonfire Faire,Final Fantasy 14players that completed a quest were rewarded with gender-specific sets of Summer Sunset swimwear to use as glamour. The 2023 Moonfire Faire starts on Thursday, August 10, and concludes on Saturday, August 26. Players that want to earn the Phoenix Riser attire will have to start the quest “Allergic to Sunshine” in the upper decks of Limsa Lominsa by speaking to a lalafell named Mayaru Moyaru at the Aftcastle. The quest will eventually take players to Costa del Sol, named afterthe tropical getaway ofFinal Fantasy 7, where players can obtain the outfit upon completion.
The Phoenix Riser attire isheavily inspired by shows such asPower RangersandKamen Rider. It is a two-piece outfit with a helmet and a bodysuit that covers the chest, arms, legs, and feet of players that want to use it as glamour. Though Viera and Hrothgar players have long been dogged by the inability to have most pieces ofFinal Fantasy 14’s available headgear visibly shown, a YouTube video from The Phookas indicates that the Phoenix Riser Helmet will not only appear on those two races but cover their ears as well. Whether this new design will set the tone for the Viera and the Hrothgar in the future remains to be seen.
The Phoenix Riser outfit can also be dyed, soFinal Fantasy 14players will have plenty of colors to pick from. With the addition ofa second dye channel in the upcomingDawntrailexpansion, it remains to be seen if the Phoenix Riser attire will be among the first beneficiaries of the change.
Final Fantasy 14is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version launching in Spring 2024.
