Far Cry 6has been officially announced, stirring up a large amount of excitement. It’s been a little over a year since the last installment ofFar Cryreleased, and since then, fans have been excited to see what the future holds for the series. From what has been shown already,Far Cry 6intends to return to the series roots while bringing a lot of new ideas to the table.
One new addition being madethat was not featured in the previousFar Crygames is a third-person during cutscenes and other in-game events,Game Rant learned in an interview. This will be a nice change of pace given thatFar Crycutscenes traditionally play out from a first-person perspective.

Hopefully, the addition of third-person cutscenes will give the player a greater sense of connection to the playable protagonist. In the previousFar Crygames, the player was unable to actually see the protagonist, except in special circumstances. For example, inFar Cry 3the player was only ever able to see what Jason looked like a handful of times. Additionally,Far Cry 6will once again featurea fully voiced playable protagonist, a decision that has fans very excited given the love of previous protagonists precedingFar Cry 6.
This will, hopefully, give the protagonist a greater sense of personality and nuance. While theFar Cryprotagonistsremain beloved by many, none of them hold a candle to theFar Cryvillains. By showing the protagonists off from a third-person perspective, with any luck, it will help to make the protagonist just as memorable as the villain.
Though, there’s definitely a reason why so many players hold theFar Cryvillains in such high regard. Many of them are extremely memorable and well written, especially Vaas fromFar Cry 3, who is considered by many to be one of the greatest video game villains of all time. Thus, it was no surprise that fans ofFar Cry 3got excited when they heard the rumors thatVaas could make an appearance inFar Cry 6. Though, the rumors don’t seem to carry any weight, for multiple reasons relating to the game’s original stories.
Far Cry 6is set to launch on Jun 25, 2025, for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
