DC’s brightest band of heroes is theJustice League, which consists of seven original heroes. In 2017, DC created a film for the band of heroes, but one fan has recreated what the group may look like with a few familiar faces.

The 2017 adaptation,Justice League, featured starred Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman,Ezra Miller as The Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. One fan’s recreation recalls actors who played the roles long before some of their current stars.

The fan-made poster bysamukartsfeatures Christopher Reeves as Superman, Michael Keaton as Batman, Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, andJohn Wesley Shipp as The Flash. Each of the actors is pictured in their respective hero’s look that they wore during their time as the DC characters. The four heroes are shadowed on the poster by two formidable opponents in Jack Nicholsons' Joker and Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor. Nicholson can be seen in his white Joker paint, complimented by his painted smile and black hat.

Many of these heroes have seen revivals in their characters over the years. Since Keaton’s stint as Batman from 1989 to 1992, Batman has been played by Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Bruce Thomas, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Kevin Conroy, and most recently, Robert Pattinson. Superman has also had his fair share of adaptations but is most often associated with Henry Cavill’sMan of Steel. Recently, the mantle of Carter’s Wonder Woman was passed to Gal Gadot. Carter starred in Gadot’sWonder Woman 1984as Asteria, and she is expected to reprise the role in the third installment. Like Carter, John Wesley Shipp has been able to be a part of the newest form of his character in the CW seriesThe Flash.

The original band of DC characters who formed the Justice League is Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter. Today, it’s rare to find a newadaptation of the Justice Leaguethat contains all the original members right away. Those who wish to see the massive group of heroes protecting the world together can turn to a few animated versions of Justice League.

In 2021, another version ofJustice Leaguewas released, which critics received much kinder than they had the 2017 adaptation.Zack Snyder’s version of the DC groupincluded Martian the Manhunter, which the 2017 edition left out. With the demand for superhero films never going out of style and an expanding universe to pull stories from, there is a good chance another Justice League adaptation isn’t too far off in the future.
