The Flashis slated as one of Warner Bros. Discovery’s biggest films this year, one with large implications for the DC Universe, and it looks like that involves giving Ezra Miller’s superhero a makeover now seen for the first time thanks to some official merchandising.
AlthoughThe Flashwon’t premiere until summer, due to a wave of news surrounding James Gunn’sDCera that has seen Henry Cavill and Dwayne Johnson’s projects scrapped, and Gal Gadot’s future remaining uncertain, attention has turned to Barry Allen. And now it appears that fans won’t have to wait until the movie’s Super Bowl trailer comes out to get their first glimpse of Miller in their new costume.

Over on the DC Cinematic subreddit a user by the name ofSpeedForce2022uploaded a comic book cover featuring Miller in a running pose wearing a new outfit that will appear inThe Flash. This suit design was partially teased in the film’s promo art that was first unveiled at Brazil’s CCXP events, though it’s only now that fans can start to appreciate how it will look in live action, with the costume not being quite the high-tech fit Allen had inZack Snyder’s Justice League.
This is not the only leaked image featuring Miller in full disguise, as some film merchandise already available at places like Walmart also features the same image ofThe Flashadorning the packaging. The key takeaway here is that Miller’s new costume is more of a one-piece suit, more skintight and less rugged than what they previously wore, with the mask bearing a slight resemblance to thecharacter’s appearance in NetherRealm’sInjustice 2.
The standout detail is without doubt the presence of those bold bright yellow lightning streaks that run from the center ofThe Flashinsignia which are a welcome addition taken straight from the comics, though that didn’t stop Redditors from criticizing Miller’s running from already. Suffice to say,givenThe Flashwill explore the Flashpoint storylineand it’s all but guaranteed several variants of the superhero will show, it’s unlikely that this will be the only Barry Allen suit featured in the film.
So far, Warner executives are quite optimistic aboutThe Flash’spotential, with reports suggesting the studio could even consider allowing Miller to stay if the movie is successful. If that’s the case, only those that wanted to seeCavill and Gadot cameos inThe Flashare in for a loss.
