This new trailer dropped several new details that have caused much more speculation about where this movie is headed, and how it may tie Marvel films together in a whole new way. There is a lot to dissect and even more that still remains a mystery. Regardless, there is plenty to get fans excited for this next stage of theMarvel Cinematic Universe.

13The New Doctor Strange Duds

Doctor Strange is seen in a new costume in much of the trailer, and it’s a pretty great one as well. It’s the suit dubbed as “Defender Doctor Strange” by its corresponding Marvel Legends figure.

Stephen adopted this look after he surrendered the title of Sorcerer Supreme to fellow hero andAvenger, Jericho Drumm aka Brother Voodoo. Fans are looking forward to seeing it in action on the big screen.

12Dinosaurs And Cartoon Realities

During one of the scenes in which Strange and America Chavez are falling through realities, viewers get to see a background with a Tyrannosaurus Rex fighting a Triceratops. This could be something as (relatively) straightforward as the duo falling through time, or them possibly falling past the Savage Land, a remote Antarctic location in Marvel Comics where Vibranium is abundant and prehistoric creatures still live.

The two then fall into a reality that appears animated. This could imply that the two are connecting to theWhat If…realities or perhaps even the reality of the Marvel Comics themselves.

11Vision Already Pondered The Multiverse As A Concept

At another point, Strange asks Scarlet Witch what she knows about the Multiverse, and she replies that Vision had theories about it but that it was a dangerous thing.

This implies that the Vision had a way of looking into the Multiverse, and that he may have evencaught a glimpse of his alternate “self” fromWhat If…, Infinity Ultron. With the Multiverse growing as a theme in recent Marvel movies, it’s no wonder the trailer touched on this.

10Rintrah, The Sorcerer Minotaur

Another scene shows us what appears to be an attack on Kamar-Taj, the sorcery school that taught the likes of Stephen Strange, Karl Mordo, and Wong.

Among those spotted at Kamar-Tai was a Minotaur sorcerer. This is likely the character of Rintrah from Marvel Comics. He is a figure who helped Stephen Strange in the past and has even become a professor at Strange’s own sorcery school, Strange Academy.

9The Prominence Of Christine Palmer

Rachel McAdams' MCU character, Christine Palmer, is returning inMultiverse of Madness. In addition to Palmer being a thoroughly likable character from the first movie, there is another reason to be excited about her return in the sequel.

It has been theorized that Christine Palmer may actually be an alias of Clea, another sorcerer ally of Doctor Strange as well as an on-again-off-again romantic interest of the Sorcerer Supreme. Either that, or Clea is Christine from an alternate universe.

8The Bizarre Ribbon Creature Seemingly Attacking America

The creature that is attacking America Chavez is certainly an interesting-looking beast. In addition to looking cool, this creature made of what appear to be ribbons is the source of much speculation.

One theory of interest is that the creature is the Demiurge, the ascendant form of Wiccan, aka Billy Kaplan (one of Wanda’s reincarnated twins). As the Demiurge, Billy is actually responsible for the destruction of America’s home dimension, the Utopian Parallel.

7The Misshapen Doctor Strange At The End Of The Trailer

At the very end of the trailer, audiences are shown a particularly horrific creature that resembles Doctor Strange himself. Inky black arms extend around him to cast a spell.

It has been speculated that this is a zombie Doctor Strange from theWhat If…episode focusing on the Marvel zombies.Another thought is that this shows Doctor Strangesomehow possessed by the godlike entity known as Nightmare, who greatly resembles Strange in this scene. It’s also worth mentioning thatthe trailer once again shows the evilDoctor Strange who also appeared in theWhat If…series.

6More Scenes With America Chavez

The trailer gives us more scenes of America Chavez, aka Miss America, throughout.America is a relatively new Marvel character, having first appeared inVengeanceby Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta in 2011.

America is super-strong, nigh-invulnerable, can fly, and can punch star-shaped portals that can even lead to other dimensions. She has been part of the West Coast Avengers, Young Avengers, the Teen Brigade, and the Ultimates. It looks like she’ll play a significant part in this movie as well.

5A Full Look At Shuma-Gorath/Gargantos

The extradimensional demon known as Shuma-Gorath (who is called Gargantos in the movie for legal reasons) makes a full appearance in the trailer, hurling a bus at Doctor Strange.

Shuma-Gorath is a Lovecraftian entity imbued with godlike powers, and has given Doctor Strange plenty of trouble over the years. Shuma-Gorath was originally a character in Robert E. Howard’sConanstories, and his name change to Gargantos in the movie reflects the complicated place whereConancurrently sits in terms of movie rights.

4The Robotic Drones That Escort Doctor Strange

There are a handful of scenes that take place in an otherworldly location, where an unknown authority has captured and handcuffed Doctor Strange. He is escorted by robotic drones that greatly resemble Ultron’s lesser drones.

There is also a comparison to be drawn toIron Man’s drones, as these robots seem to have Arc Reactors on their chest. They also bear some resemblance to the Empirikul, a dimension-spanning empire that sought to erase all magic from the Multiverse and tried to kill Strange in the process.
