Techland has really gone above and beyond with its most recent release,Dying Light 2. Much like its predecessor, Techland promised before release thatDying Light 2would be supported with both free and paid content long after the game’s February 2022 release, and looking at the game a good few months after it’s hit store shelves, that’s certainly the case. Over the last few months, Techland has introduced new cosmetics, missions, weapons, gear, challenges, and even an entireNew Game Plus mode toDying Light 2, all absolutely free of charge.
Even now, almost five months afterDying Light 2’s release, it seems as though Techland is only getting started. Just a few weeks ago, Techland brought its “In the Footsteps of a Nightrunner” update toDying Light 2, which laid the groundwork for the game’s future and was the first real step of Techland’s five-year plan of post-launch content. One week ago,Dying Light 2received its most recent update. Simply titled the “1.4.2 Update,” this latest patch doesn’t bring any new content toDying Light 2, but it does fix some of the game’s most severe technical bugs and issues, some of which fans have been requesting since the game’s release.

Dying Light 2’s 1.4.2 Update Explained
One of the biggest issues that’s plaguedDying Light 2since its February 2022 launch has been its fast travel system. On the surface, there’s absolutely nothing wrong withDying Light 2’s fast travel mechanic, players simply need to pick a spot on the map, and tap the button to be transported there, and if there’s no enemies around, they’ll be transported in just a few seconds - standard open-world RPG stuff. However, in practice,Dying Light 2’s fast travel system has been plagued with technical issues for quite some time.
The most common issue would be the game simply not letting the player fast travel under certain circumstances where they otherwise should be able to. For instance, if they were located in a specific section of the map or certain NPCs were nearby.Dying Light 2’s 1.4.2 Update finally fixes this, and fast travel should now be functioning exactly how it was always intended. However, the patch notes do mention thatTechland is still working on improving the player’s experiencewith fast travel, so some more changes might be on the way.
Another area in whichDying Light 2has had some severe technical issues is in the co-op department. When playing in co-op, players would often be disconnected, or their game would crash in certain scenarios. This update has fixed the specific co-op crash-state that resulted from players using any stab follow-up abilities. A few achievement/trophy issues have also been fixed, specifically regarding the achievements “Street Art Aficianado” and “Find Anything Interesting?”
Dying Light 2’s 1.4.2 Update has also made some intriguing changes to some infected’s stats. Tyrant Volatiles, for instance, are being made a little stronger, andSpecial Infected typesin general are receiving a boost to their resistance of certain types of damage. Special Infected types that are designated with an orange marker should also now drop Mutation Samples, which are needed for certain quest lines that have been added since the game’s initial launch.Dying Light 2’s 1.4.2 Update has also tweaked a few other minor elements of the game, such as fixing a soft lock during a parkour challenge and allowing players to transfer their outfits from Chapter 1 over to New Game Plus.
Dying Light 2: Stay Humanis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is scheduled for release later this year.
