Another of The Game Awards 2019’s potential announcements may have just been hinted at on social media, by none other thanDungeons & Dragonspublisher Wizards of the Coast. The annual award show’s producer, Geoff Keighley, has already confirmed thatThe Game Awards 2019 will feature around 10 new game reveals. Those reveals have been left mysterious, but are being hinted at in the leadup to the event. Wizards of the Coast is providing one such hint.
The tease comes via Wizard of the Coast’sDungeons & DragonsTwitter account in a simple but straightforward post. The post reads “Hey, @TuqueGames. See you @thegameawards.” It’s accompanied by an image of a ghostly orc with glowing white eyes, who is wearing a large horned beast’s skull as a helmet. It’s not immediately clear who this orc might be or if they’re important to what Wizards of the Coast is teasing. The image might just be aDungeons & Dragonsimage that was available at hand.

Beyond the immediately recognizable teaser, which is that Wizards of the Coast is now expected to be showing something at The Game Awards 2019, the only other hint is the named studio Tuque Games. Tuque Games may not be a familiar name to many game players, as it only has one published game named Livelock. Tuque’s next game remains unknown, but it was revealed earlier this year that it was aDungeons & Dragonsproject made in partnership with Wizards of the Coast. In October, it was announced thatWizards of the Coast had purchased Tuque Games.
Exactly what kind ofDungeons & Dragonsgame Tuque might be working on remains a mystery. A job listing several months ago revealed the need for a Narrative Designer to work on quests, cinematics, branching conversations, barks, and banter, and is likely related. It would be easy to assume that Tuque is working on an RPG of some kind, though what kind is a guess. Tuque is a studio with around 50 employees, about 1/4 the size ofBaldur’s Gate 3studio Larian, but still big enough to create big RPG if it was of the mind to.
With The Game Awards 2019 now just a day away, fans won’t have to wait long to find out what Wizards of the Coast and Tuque Games are up to. The Game Awards 2019 airs Thursday, December 12, at 6:30 pm PT and will run for around 2 and a half hours. The newDungeons & Dragonsgame joins a list that already includes a new game from WolfEye Studios and aLeague of Legendsspin-off title published, but not developed, by Riot Games. There’s a lot to look forward to.
Wizards of the Coast’s newDungeons & Dragonsgame has no confirmed release date, platforms, or title.
