SPOILERS FOR DRAGON AGE: ABSOLUTION AHEADAs it turns out,Dragon Age 2’s Hawke is very, very bad about making sure the things and folks they kill are actually dead.Dragon Age 2takes place across a decade or so of happenings in Kirkwall, all of which Hawke finds themself in the center of as the burgeoning Champion. This means they fight/deal with figures like Bartrand (possessed bythe Red Lyrium Idol), the Arishok of the Qun, First Enchanter Orsino, Knight Commander Meredith, Duke Prosper, and of course, Corypheus. And at least one of these characters may be important toDragon Age: Dreadwolf’s plot.
As many know, Hawke didn’t actually kill Corypheus though. It was hinted at the time but confirmed comeDragon Age: Inquisitionthat Corypheus can transfer his consciousness, much like Archdemons. The Inquisition and Varric bring in Hawke to help, but depending on thechoices made for Hawke inDragon Age: Inquisition, they may or may not be around to realize they failed to kill another foe of theirs: Knight Commander Meredith. And she seems determined to make that Tevinter’s problem, withTevinter being the setting ofDragon Age: Dreadwolf.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and The Crimson Knight’s Invasion of Tevinter
In the finale ofDragon Age: Absolution, players learn the identity of the Crimson Knight, the one who ordered Hira to seek out the Circulum Infinitus. The show’s ending leaves it open for a season 2, but based on the Crimson Knight’s decree of a war against Tevinter, it only makes sense to this villain to return inDragon Age: Dreadwolf. Or, at the very least, the impact of their war. The thing is, the Crimson Knight is revealed to beKnight-Commander Meredith.
After her supposed death and crystallization inDragon Age 2, it seems she was moved to a portion of Kirkwall manned by Red Templars. Over time, specifically followingthe closure of The Breach, Meredith would quickly grow into a huge Red Lyrium structure with a human trapped inside. All players can do is hear her speech and see the movements of the silhouette, but The Crimson Knight is no doubt Knight-Commander Meredith. Her war with Tevinter could easily be a story within the greater frame of Solas' actions to tear down the Veil, and the mysteries of Red Lyrium is something fans have wanted answers to forever. It seems to all be converging on Tevinter.
With Hawke potentially being dead, that’s an unfortunate circumstance; this remains a compelling reason to leave Hawke alive inDragon Age: Inquisition, if players needed another one. At the same time, it might be wise to keep an eye out on allDragon Age: Dreadwolflore even remotely tied to Orsino, Duke Prosper, the Arishok (not to be confused with the latest Arishok, Sten fromDragon Age: Origins), and so on. Clearly, Hawke didn’t poke them with a stick after killing them.
