Video game fans may be anxiously awaiting the release of theMass Effect Legendary Edition, which collects the original threeMass Effecttitles remastered for modern gaming hardware, but BioWare’s primary focus remains on a different franchise.Dragon Age 4is BioWare’s next major project in development, though information about the game continues to be available in limited supply. To help briefly sate fans' anticipation, BioWare’s shared a new piece of art featuringDragon Age’s Grey Warden.
The piece of art comes from BioWare Austin Executive Producer Christian Dailey. However, Dailey’s art drop starts with a message fromDragon Agecreative director Matthew Goldman. Goldman started by asking Dailey on Twitter for something “really gray and pointy.” Dailey’s response features a new piece of art featuring a sword-wielding and armored Grey Warden with the message, “Is this the right amount of pointy and gray?”

The image itself delivers as promised. The character in the image is wearing a winged helmet and plate armor. Their chest piece has a griffon with claws and wings outstretched, and their kite shield similarly has a symbol featuring two griffons facing opposing directions and wings raised. Both symbols will be familiar to those who have played pastDragon Agegamesas symbols of the order of Grey Wardens. Even the warden’s sword features outstretched wings for its hilt, plus another griffon in the image’s background.
Suffice to say, fans are likely to be pleased with both the amount of gray and the pointiness in the image. It’s hard to imagine another piece of concept art that could be shared by theDragon Age 4team at BioWarethat would more clearly convey, “This is a Grey Warden.” Goldman agrees, as he later postED a response on Twitter saying, “AW YEAH. Gray. Pointy. Winged. Gooooooold! All the good stuff!”
The reveal of aDragon Age 4Grey Warden does conjure some interesting questions, however. InDragon Age: Inquisition, the Grey Wardens ultimately end up causing a major threat to all of Thedas. The newDragon Agewill be forced to deal with either theGrey Wardens' redemptionor perhaps further spiral toward corruption. While the image shared today certainly presents the Grey Warden as heroic, it would be very BioWare to hint at something interesting about its upcoming game.
That said, as nice as it is to receive a teaser image forDragon Age 4from BioWare, it’s likely to only further fans' demands for moreDragon Age 4information. The most recent tease came duringThe Game Awards 2020, which already feels like ages ago. There will be a lot of BioWare fans hopeful for news to be shared this summer, perhaps at E3.
Dragon Age 4is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
