WhenDragon Age 4was first teased back at The Game Awards 2018, many had high hopes and anticipation. It was quickly discovered, though, that the game was in early development, it still didn’t have an official title, andDragon Age 4’s release date was far off. Since then, the only thing that has been known about the game has been set up byDragon Age: Inquisition.
That was until today. Ahead of the official PS5 reveal, the digital edition of July’s Official PlayStation Magazine appeared online detailing a grand total of 38 games in development for PS5. Many of these have already been revealed, such asGodfall, but this is the first platform confirmed forDragon Age 4. The official entry in the magazine (which officially goes on sale on June 2) reads, “it’s been six years since the last game but a sequel is definitely coming, and it will be on Sony’s next generation console.”

It’s no stretch to have believed before thatDragon Age 4was a next-gen game, given comments by EA and its lack of any real presence, but in the absence of bigger reveals, confirmation that it’s aPS5 gameis a swell thing indeed. Of course, this likely means thatDragon Age 4is in the works for Xbox Series X as well, with confirmation likely coming sometime relatively soon, while other platforms like Stadia are left in the air.
While this part is mere speculation, it’s worth wondering ifDragon Age 4will be at thePS5 Reveal on June 4. Recent reports indicate that Sony is requesting a lot to fill the time slot and wants a big show of all things PS5, so given the fact thatDragon Age 4has been quiet ever since the aforementioned Game Awards 2018 trailer, it makes sense to show something. It was officially teased early and it’s not likely to release for another few years, but it’s about time BioWare tossed its players a bone.
If it doesn’t appear at the PS5 reveal event, the next logical location is later this summer at EA Play. This also lines up with Executive Producer Mark Darrah’s latest tweets, in which he showcases the red Dread Wolf book once again and leaving many fans hoping for an official, full-blownDragon Age 4reveal.
