YouTubestreamer and co-founder of Midnight Society, Dr Disrespect, manages to find himself in gaming discussions quite frequently, especially in regards to how he thinks a game should be balanced. Last month, he had somestrong criticism forApex Legend’s audio design, and his latest comments are targeting a much wider topic as he believes snipers should be a one-shot headshot in all video games.

He started as a member of Sledgehammer Games which saw him use his talents developing multiplayer maps forCall of Duty: Advanced Warfareuntil he decided to pursue a full-time career in streaming. The latest debate comes courtesy of a tweet from the Doc himself. In a surprisingly short and direct tweet, Doc simply states that snipers should be a one-shot knock or elimination no matter the video game as long as the shot is a headshot. Dr Disrespect normally plays battle royale or FPS titles such asCall of Duty: Warzoneon hisYouTubestreams, and with his tweet garnering over 150,000 likes since he posted it, his words caught the eyes of many players like himself.
A few of the notable names who chimed in were professionalCall of Duty: Warzoneplayer IceManIsaac and professional Call of Duty League caster Maven. IceManIsaac argued that the one-shot potential of a sniper should only be rewarded if the weapon takes skill while referring tothe Kraber fromApex Legends: a weapon that is much slower but matches the lack of speed with power. Maven shares a similar sentiment but clarifies that there need to be adjustments such as bullet drop implemented versus it being a one-hit without a proper trade-off.
Along those lines, two other big-name individuals shared similar feelings.Call of Dutypersonality, ModernWarzone, mentioned that there’s a discussion for both sides of the argument but agreed with IceManIsaac’s point. Well-known Twitch streamer Trainwrecks chimed in about the lack of balancing as a whole by mentioning how inconsistent shotgun balancing is in some games versus sniper balance. His words serve as a reflection of the infamous725 shotgun fromCall of Duty: Modern Warfarethat saw five different nerfs and still dominated in some shape.
For the most part, the reaction to this tweet sparked a largely positive discussion, with many agreeing with Doc’s stance, albeit with proper trade-offs. WithDr Disrespect’s first title on the horizon, it’ll be interesting to see if he matches his vocal opinions on balancing in video games.
