Now thatDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessis right around the corner, fans are starting to get a very good idea of what they’re going to see when it hits theaters. Among the hints about what people can expect inDoctor Strange 2is a new piece of merchandise that hints that America Chavez (A.K.A. Miss America) will continue to be a member of the LBGTQ+ community in the MCU.
The comic book version ofAmerica Chavez is a relatively new character, having first been introduced in 2011. While she’s actually the second hero to go by the Miss America moniker, she’s the first-ever Latin-American character who is is also a member of the LBGTQ+ community. While the MCU has tweaked some of the backstories of the characters that have appeared in the movies, it appears with this piece of merchandise that Kevin Feige and company are keeping the movie version of America Chavez true to the comic book version.

All of this comes from aDoctor Strange 2t-shirt that surfaced on Amazon. The shirt’s design is relatively simple, with one of four white, blue, pink, or grey backgrounds, but it’s the small design on the front of the shirt that appears to confirm a portion of the character’s background inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. On the front of the shirt is a design that is supposed to look like thejean vest that America Chavez is well known for wearing. The vest is decorated with drawings and writing that is also straight out of the comics, but it’s the rainbow flag pin that’s on the character’s left front breast pocket that appears to be a giveaway that Miss America is going to mirror the LBGTQ+ aspect of the comic book character’s background.
This particular t-shirt does not officially confirm anything. However, the listing is an officially licensed piece ofDoctor Strange 2merchandise, so that should hint at something. Marvel has not confirmed this part of the character’s backstory, and until it does, this will be more of a hint than anything else.
WithDoctor Strange 2almost exactly five months away from hitting theaters, it could be quite a while before that aspect of the Miss America character is confirmed. On the other hand, Marvel Studios doesn’t seem to be hiding what it has up its sleeve forDoctor Strange 2characterswhen it comes to their look in new promotional materials.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesswill be in theaters on July 07, 2025.
