The post opens with a teaser telling players to keep their “eyes up” as the sun is being eclipsed by the Cabal’s superweapon the Almighty, a “stark reminder that a great threat approaches” and spells “certain doom.” However, it goes on to talk about how the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has leftBungie employees working from home, which has affected development of the game as well as the studio’s usual pattern of announcing news and milestones at live events.

That said, it does reassure fans that development is and will continue, and that there is “exciting news to share about our plans” which will be disseminated over the Internet rather than at a convention or other event. It points fans to Bungie’s official Twitter account to find updates about whenDestiny 2-related announcements will be streamed, and says the reveal of the next season will come alongside updates about the next chapter of its story.

ThoughDestiny 2is almost three years old, there’s no sign of it slowing down, especially with Bungie continuing to let fans know that development is ongoing despite worldwide circumstances. The studio confirmed thatDestiny 2is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series Xearlier this month, which suggests there are still lots of ideas to incorporate for the foreseeable future.

While the “This Week At Bungie” post is somewhat vague about what players can expect to see in the upcoming season of content, the crux of what it will entail from a narrative standing seems obvious enough. Stopping the Almighty from destroying everything may be a daunting task as indicated by minor in-game changes likecreepy music playing in the Tower.
